Don't show. When he taunts you for it, say, "I have better things to do than to waste my time with morons." If he jumps you, keep your cell handy and dial 9-1-1. Ball up and don't fight back. Tell the operator you are being attacked. Bullies only want to humiliate you. If you call them on it, it scr...

Be honest.
Be clear.
Don't play games.
Be respectful.

If you give it, you will get it.

My advice: ask them to a daytime event, as a friend. A group event is even better. Look around your local area for: Outdoor concerts? Earth Day events? Indoor rock-climbing? Museum events? Youth groups? Hiking / nature groups? If they are taking the same classes as you, you can ask the person if he/...

I also have a 13 year old girl with similar issues. I think that sometimes the only answer is to accept the assignments, help them plan them out WAAAAAAAYYY in advance with their planners, and help them develop their thesis statement. After all, they will be expected to do this kind of interpretatio...

You know, I am NT and I used to feel that nothing was really going my way. Then I saw a pbs documentary on Steven Hawking and I was like, here's a guy in a wheelchair, Lou Gherig's disease, who has to rely on someone else for almost every activity, and the guy is brilliant and never complains about ...

My MIL got a "rescue" MC and he is a lifesaver, as her husband died last year. He's about three years old - plenty of life left in him and no middle-of-the-night pouncing as he was already grown. He still plays - just not nutty like a kitten. He's a good cat, though. They are a good breed for compan...

Not for nothing but, as an NT, I can say this is not specific to Asperger's. We NT's also get irritated with people, and often obsess over our encounters with annoying people long after the encounter has passed.

Thanks, Ster. I called her primary physician, who recommended we start with a screening by a private psychiatrist, and see if we can't get the school district to help with the cost. The reason I am averse to an IEP is we have done one before and she was being pulled out of the only class she likes (...

Do I need a referral from my daughter's primary physician to get a screening? Whom to call first? I tried to call a neurologist, but they told me they are out of network and would cost 2K for a screening!! ! I am just looking for a screening to confirm what we already suspect is Asperger's. Daughter...

You can do candling with beeswax ear candles (I've done it), although a lot of doctors think it's a bunch of baloney. I am prone to swimmer's ear. My doc says the best bet is to just let a little water run in your ears while you're washing your hair, and to make sure you rinse it out. That's usually...
