I also recommend the same types of contact as the other two posters. Telephone numbers and the mailing address are a good thing to have, and will keep your son happy to keep in contact with his favorite friend. He's moving to another country, so you'll have to call to a different dialing code than i...

With my record of getting jobs being approximately 1 job-25 rejections, I can't describe my 'worst job.' But here's the jobs that I would NOT want to do under any circumstances... - Fast food. Absolutely not. They are stressful, hot environments, with angry managers who don't want to be there, rude ...

We're both in the same boat, unable to find work. The unemployment rate is really 'low' right now...but no one wants to hire me. :( I applied for employment assistance at a local disability-help office last week, had a long meeting with the woman in charge, and if my application goes through, I'll b...

Update 8/30/18...and still not good. Every job I've applied for since last month - ALL rejected! This includes three or four paraeducator positions, one position at Fred Meyer, a front desk position at a brand new Holiday Inn Express, and another position for Cash & Carry (grocery store for rest...

Oh, I almost forgot (and internet gets cut off here in a couple hours if that...sadly) I will be heading to WorkSource (basically the state unemployment line) on August 1st for a hiring event, a brand new hotel is opening up in Union Gap (Holiday Inn Express). I would love the chance to work as a fr...

I have applied for two more jobs in the interim (Macy's and Cash & Carry - the latter is a grocery store for restaurant owners and shoppers who buy in bulk). I have also applied for a new full-time parapro position at a middle school about 8 miles away from me - Title I, so working with students...

Basically, here's the situation: I applied for the arcade in early May and they told me that they wouldn't hire until June for summer. I kept bugging them every week and told them how much I wanted the job, and that I have experience with kids as a sub parapro...but they wouldn't budge and then reje...

Like I said, DVR will NOT help me. They have a waiting list that's 100 miles long. Thousands of people are ahead of me. They take the most-seriously disabled people first, then they'll get to people like me (with high-functioning autism spectrum). This morning I got rejected from the grocery cashier...

No on the tutoring, because I'm absolutely awful when it comes to math past about middle school-level. And even then, volunteering in the schools, middle school math has changed so much since Common Core was put in, that I practically had to relearn most of the content that I learned as a 6th grader...

OK - how can this be. Rejected from Goodwill now! They needed a Donation Attendant at their local Yakima store and they didn't want me to work there. Unfriggin'believable. I have a DVR appointment on July 9th and maybe someone will give me a chance. But I'm hoping it's not picking apples in 100F hea...

It's been awful lately and today it was the worst day I've ever had for rejections. My experience: substitute paraeducator, current college student going for an elementary ed. major, have been in leadership projects in HS and volunteered for two years in a row as a junior and senior, 2x a week, at m...

I've gotten rid of all but one of my original stuffed animals - a small elephant named 'Elley'. I used to have an entire family of elephants - his 'father,' a 'mother,' and a 'granddaddy' that was about 12 inches high. All of them were taken to the thrift store years ago. I also had a Ty chipmunk (C...

Because I'm in college. In fact I'm taking a nighttime math class just in case I end up getting a part-time DAYTIME job. If I went back to full-time college in the daytime, I wouldn't be able to substitute anywhere (not that I'm able to find school district jobs anyways...) nor any other daytime-onl...

(I haven't been on here in a long time, glad to be back!) Anyways, I'm currently working as a substitute paraeducator in two local school districts (and used to be three). Sadly, these two districts hardly give me any job opportunities. I'm currently in college working towards my Elem Ed degree. And...

If this is true (and an 80% chance is good) he should be fired. What a disgusting creep. He should know better, Warren, Michigan has a population of 134,000+! People with Down's syndrome are NOT ret*ds. They are unique people, just like autistics and others with disabilities. Love seeing those inspi...

Yes, there are children who care about the election. Even in elementary school, I have seen them do mock polls for President. I know they should be kids, playing and happily enjoying their childhood right now, but the election is unavoidable. If the kids live in a Republican family, they will most l...
