Do your special interests ever just drain you? For example, I've talked about mine for six hours straight today, and have been thinking about it for eight hours more, and I am so exhausted and my chest and back hurts and I want to cry. I've done this before. I'll just get so intense about my interes...

Flipping letters is a dyslexic thing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyslexia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysgraphia I don't know if you have these neurological issues but they are not uncommon for people on the spectrum I was never sure if it was dyslexia or something since I was always good at read...

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I am unsure if perhaps this is related to Asperger's. I have no other resources available to me but what's on the internet. When it comes to reading and writing, I'm typically viewed as above average, but I still have some troubles with it. I can read/w...

I'm still trying to get officially diagnosed. I've been highly recommended by a psychologist to be tested for autism, but my parents keep writing it off as "giftedness" because I'm in high performance.

I wasn't diagnosed until my mid-twenties despite showing extremely obvious symptoms and having fairly frequent meltdowns in school. They were too determined to write me off as a bratty gifted kid to give me help. I don't think that my giftedness covered up my disabilities, but everyone else sure di...

I was reading an article on them because I find the topic extremely interesting. I always thought I was one but was scared to say it. I was put in the gifted program when I was young and nowadays I show a lot of symptoms for a lot of different neurological disorders (i.e. Asperger's is my most promi...

I've been asked to help tutor and inform and lead people before. I don't have the social skills needed to do those things.

I've seen a number of people have the same problem I do. When it comes to memory, I can tell you what I was doing September 25th, 2012 at 3:22 in the afternoon, but I'll never be able to remember what folder I need to grab for class or what I'm eating that night. Because of it I've suffered through ...

A lot of people see me as an obnoxious, obsessive, nerdy, control freak. It's really made my search for friends even harder.

For many people it's a non-issue, but some make a distinction between one's romantic orientation and one's sexual orientation. I first noticed this with asexuals, who may call themselves something like hetero romantic or pan romantic to signify that they're interested in others romantically but not...

I admire your perseverance. I think you will find a lot of articles on this site illuminating. It is here that I learned the reason why looking into other people's eyes is so painful: for us the amygdala in the brain is stimulated by eye gaze rather than the limbic system as eye gaze does for most ...

Then he told me he had worked with many autistic children and told me I act just like them and he really recommended me getting checked out for it because I most likely have it. I agree with the one therapist (the non-flop one), you definitely have many traits of Asperger's. Of course there's a dif...

Hello, I'm new! I'm Emily and I'm still in high school so I'm fairly young. This post will get pretty lengthy. I've been told I have an awful habit of not knowing when to stop talking, so knowing me this will take a while, especially when it comes to talking about Asperger's. I could literally talk ...
