May I know, why are you unemployable?

That's funny - you think I haven't tried? :) I have applied for every job going recently. There is a reason I'm still at home out of work. Partly it's crap interview skills and partly I'm too old and too expensive now - I'm in direct competition with younger, cheaper teachers. I used to get intervi...

I'm a qualified Music teacher but have struggled getting permanent jobs because of poor interview skills, although I am a damn good teacher. I love kids and get along far better with children than with adults - I struggle interacting with the other teachers and would be quite happy to never see any...

Firstly, daspie I love your list. So true. I've always thought I'd be a good teacher.

And I love your picture. ;-)

Daspie, I've done the job and it really requires logic rather than mind-reading. Motive is generally a small aspect of the case: it is not usually part of the legal definition of the crime; in many crimes it's obvious anyway; and some crimes are beyond the understanding of most NTs and Aspies alike...

Overall, however, it's been great profession for me and Tony Attwood even writes that jobs in the legal profession are often good fits for Aspies. This has been my experience in life. I've always thought that way as far as Aspies becoming lawyers; it was one of my preferred career choices even befo...

3) EMERGENCY SERVICES: I recommend that any Aspie stay a long, long way away from this field!! Police, fire and paramedic services can be stressful, involve using intuition under pressure (police), having good motor skills, being thick-skinned, and so on...they also are heavy on social brotherly co...

Notwithstanding our stereotyped affection for patterns, I think that this is subject that defies patterns. For every job that a "typical" Aspie should avoid, there will be an Aspie who excels at it. For every job in which a "typical" Aspie would thrive, there will be dozens who would hate it. For m...

I wouldn't know wht job would be good for an aspie: I've only ever been a teacher, so I can't comment about anything else. And I think that unless you've actually been a teacher, you'd have no idea how hard a job it can be. Example: when children have fallen out and are upset, what do you say? When...

Love this idea about aspies being good teachers- really not the best job: constant change, dealing with angry parents, things being dropped on you last minute, communicating with your boss, sorting out 30 NT children all with very different demands, noisy and bright classroom, can't use all that in...

Anything that involves stability. If a job is routine and stable, even slightly boring with a clear set of tasks then it is good for us.

This is what we are saying. The jobs that we have been calling aspie friendly are those which have the characteristics that you have mentioned.

Sometimes people here seem to end up breaking down the meaning of a word until we reach it's most logic point, using animals and objects as various examples to explain the point, and the topic ends up into a bickering state or drawn away from what the thread maker was actually talking about. It is ...

Many tried to bully me as a child. Few succeeded. I used to be a very angry person. When kids stole my lunch in high school, I made them eat dirt... when a boy kicked over my sandcastle in preK, I made a bite mark on my own arm and told the teacher that he bit me... when a girl in elementary...

Agree. zer0netgain's logic is a circular one. Because bullying teaches us to stand up to bullies therefore it is right. Also, I believe that we must fight bullies and not cower. No bully has ever contributed to the reason why I stand up to anyone. I usually give the right question in the right mome...

I wouldn't say it is "good" but it does serve a purpose. Bullies are people who rule by threat of force. A young kid confronted with a bully has the opportunity to learn how to deal with it. It establishes a social order. Most cower before a bully, and such wind up always doing so when confronted b...

Bullying is nasty. People that bully have no thought on how the other person is feeling (and NTs are said to be able to have empathy and sympathy over how somebody is feeling??????????)

They have cognitive empathy but lack affective one. Please check this
