What is your "speaking" status now?

Have you gotten back to saying a few words?

I can speak now but it feels very difficult. :?

It sounds like an episode of selective mutism to me. Yeah, scary--but you know, it's encouraging that you kept your ability to write throughout. That says to me that your ability to write and your ability to talk are two different skill sets. You're going to be able to maintain communication even w...

Today I finally spoke. But I am probably going to be hospitalized next week. The reason is that my parents are scared I will become worse, and I will try a new medication (I think), and need to be under supervision then. I'm feeling quite strange at the moment and it feels like I am getting difficul...

Hi Tilda,

How are you feeling today?

Pretty good, thank you! :)

But I'm a little sad because I have to drop off high school because of this!

Thank you for all your replies! Sadly, my speech isn't the only thing that is affected: * I don't use gestures like nodding or shaking my head. Four days ago, I managed to use gestures the whole day, but after that day I just can't make a single gesture. It's impossible! * I have 0% eye contact. If ...

I'm wondering if reading about something you really enjoy, without caring whether it's "substantial" or "worthy" might help you. Even if it's Dr Seuss. Or maybe try to do some "stream of consciousness" writing. Write about anything that comes into your mind. Even write about how there's nothing on ...

Maybe we could have a "talk."

What do you like to do when you are having fun?

I like writing, and reading books. :) That's fun.

I'm sorry, Sweetie. I could understand the frustration. Do you have access to a speech therapist? Do you have access to an AAC (augmentative and alternative communication device), where you could type out what you're "saying," and show it to a person--better than writing it out with a pen. I'm also...

One week ago, I could speak normally. Now I haven't spoken a word for a week. I can make tiny sounds like whining, I can also laugh quietly. I cannot scream. I'm so frustrated! My doctor has asked me why I don't speak. The only thing I can tell her (through writing) is: "I can't." Is it common...

I believe when thoughts "disappear," it's called "forgetting." This happens to me all the time, and I'm not a senile old goat...yet! Seriously. What happens when you physically attempt to speak? I wander about without thoughts in my head. When I try to speak I can't form words, although I can write...

How does the doctor mean when he/she states that your "thoughts disappear?" I wouldn't think that you're schizophrenic at the moment. I'm thinking more "anxiety." You should see someone as soon as possible--preferably the person prescribing your meds. Obviously, only a qualified doctor could actual...

If you aren't suffering from anxiety due to stopping the medication (it does help such, so you might have been doing more than what you're capable of when you're not on them, so this can make symptoms of an ASD more pronounced): that stuff does sound like classic negative symptoms of schizophrenia ...

The strange thing is that I don't have any hallucinations now. The only thing my doctor noticed is that my thoughts disappear. I have regressed a lot the last 6 days: I no longer speak (at all), I have no eye contact, I'm hard to reach, and my previous motor skills have worsened such as walking, gra...

When I was 6-8 years old, I would hear voices in my head a lot. I also saw things that didn't exist, like cats on the streets that just disappeared in front of me like air. As a 14-year-old, I was diagnosed with a psychosis because I heard voices and saw things that weren't there. I also had delusio...

from what remember, people with CDD can start regressing at around four years of age up to before twelve years old though most regress much earlier but people with CDD are very low functioning in presentation. Thank you for your reply. But I actually meant how long time they can regress when they ha...

I'm just curious: how long period of time can a child with CDD regress? Like, several weeks, several months, or several years?
