You could say "non-NT" or neurodiverse. "Autistic cousin" (AC) is an older term I've heard people try to bring back that refers to non-NT people that may have some autistic traits, but aren't necessarily autistic.

I hate that sound with a strong passion. It tends to make me angry or makes me want to cry with annoyance.
My aunt said that she used to go to her room and cry after dinner every day because her father chewed so loudly. So at least I don't have it that badly.

Hello there and welcome (back?). What part of neuroscience are you most interested in?

Hi! I'm a lowly undergrad so I don't know an incredible amount, but I'm mostly interested in the biology behind abnormal psychology and mental disorders. I find all of it pretty fascinating, though.

I'm going to second what the other poster said. Also, to let you know, Asperger's isn't a diagnosis in the DSM (what they use to diagnose mental disorders) anymore and because it's now all called "autistic spectrum disorder," but most people, including doctors, still use it. But if people are using ...

your story sounds aspieish. here's a brief test based on the criteria docs use: http://www.iautistic.com/test_AS.php I think I would qualify, but I'm not sure if my social skills are all that bad enough to be significantly impairing. That's why I feel like I'm more on the borderline. I know I've re...

If you got through all of that, thank you for reading! As I said, I'm not looking for a diagnosis, I'm just curious about opinions. I suspect that if I am on the spectrum, I'm on the borderline, but this sense of "there is something different about me" is wearing on me. Then I feel like I'm exagger...

Hello, newish Mickey-Elle. I am from Finland and can you believe, I turned 60 while a member of WP. Chance is I am the oldest aspie around. I never asked the ladies their age. There are candidates, but I'd like to have my illusion. Hi! You may not be the oldest aspie ever, but you may be on this we...

yay :) Hi! welcome to the club 8) what are you studying in uni? Neuroscience. I think those of us with odd brains tend to gravitate toward the field. is this leading to becoming a researcher? Not likely. I've decided I don't like research all that much, so I'm going into the medical field. Ho...

It's a fairly good chance that you are on the spectrum by what you have just told us. The problem is that it's hard to determine how accurate your own self-assessment and description of your own behavior actually is. I remember that my own self-assessment of my behavior pre-diagnosis was quite off ...

Welcome! What kind of art do you like? Hi! And hi to RoadRatt as well! I just like whatever catches my interest, which usually involves a lot of bright colors. I have a strong fondness for Van Gogh (I have a lot of his prints). I like it when art has some sort of meaning or social purpose behind it...

Or newish member. I got an account a while ago, but haven't used it much. I'm a bit shy about posting, so I tend to lurk for a while. I'm a female college student. I don't really know what my deal is regarding ASD, which I just posted about in the general autism forum. I like black cats and art and ...

First off, yes I know only a professional can give me a diagnosis, but since that isn't going to happen any time soon, I wanted to ask the opinions of some autistic people themselves. This is going to be long, I'm sorry. Here is some stuff about me: Communication/Social Skills Problems: This is a to...

Note to everyone, there's an online version of the RAADS-R here so you don't have to hand score: aspietestsDOTorg/raads/index.php (I'm not allowed to post links). My RAADS-R score was 155, which seems so high to me. I thought I would get a score closer to the borderline, like my AQ score of 32. My Q...
