I have had obsessions I didn't like because they made me feel like I was a bad person for liking something. I know exactly what you mean. When I was 8 or 9 my obsession was Jack the Ripper. It made me seem like a disturbed child when I was just fascinated with the story and how they never caught hi... |

Yup, I think I do need a new one. This chick told me hand flapping is perfectly normal, it's a stress reliever. Now I have no problem with hand flapping, but it's not neurotypical. My regular doctor was onto Aspergers right away, so she sent me to the shrink...but she knows nothing about Aspergers e... |

Does your psychologist not know that you don't have to tick ALL the boxes? Right!! I was like...how can you be so black and white? Especially in women, it's a known fact that many of us can "fake it" very well. There are different kinds of Aspergers...the "blank faced robots", the "informati... |

Right! I even told her that, that NTs get a little funny around me after a while because my facial expression and tone of voice don't always match. I told her how I'm often accused of being angry when I wasn't, or how things come out wrong. But no, I'm not autistic because I'm quite expressive. I've... |

Aw Alex, your post made me really sad. I get what you're saying, this can be hard to live with. But like you said, you have been blessed with so much. I hope one day you can accept yourself and your autism, because I bet you're a cool person. |

My psychologist actually told me this last week. You've GOT to be kidding me. Sure I know some Aspies who have very blank faces, but I also know many who are quite capable of it.
....do you guys make facial expressions?? |

I love my obsessions, but at the same time it can be exhausting like my brain is running on a treadmill that won't stop. It can also be difficult because I want to talk about them SO much but I'm aware that other people will get very sick of hearing it. |

I like it fine, it's shorter than Aspergers Syndrome and easier to write. I guess it's one of those things like some black people prefer African American, others prefer to be called black, some hate the N word and some use it all the time. There will be some of us who hate the word Aspie, but I thin... |

I saw a documentary where they scanned an autistic person's brain, and it was completely missing a part that connects the left and right side. That makes sense since a lot of us walk stiffly without that fluid movement between both sides. |

Oh yes I used to be terrible at any kind of social nicety, but made an effort to learn the correct responses. Like for example to "How are you?", I had a tendency to tell them exactly how I was, now I understand it must be a short answer like fine, good or not bad. And that I should respond "how are... |

I have hazel eyes, they were blue until I was 3. My Aspie dad has blue eyes. One thing I have noticed working with children, is some autistic children with a distinct kind of clear blue eye. The kind of eyes that really get your attention, very clear and blank. My friend's daughter has such eyes, an... |

I found this on an Aspergers website and it absolutely captivated me http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d78/mariefredriksson/as-mind.gif I showed it to my Aspie dad and he said his mind does look like that but more complicated. I think mine would have Star Wars characters pushing the balls around, bu... |

I don't know what kind of kid you were or what exactly your cousin meant by that, but I've found that NTs are quite suspicious of us...I think because our facial expressions and tone often come out wrong, we seem to be a bit "off" and make people think you're not right in the head. I see people look... |

Yes, oh my god I can't stand babies. Which is bad because I'm a childcare worker. I've always tried to avoid working with the babies but always seem to get stuck with them. I love toddlers but babies are quite useless, unless they are the rare super happy kind that just smile and look sweet. I know ... |
