I like the "post-factual" description for the current state of mind in the UK. It doesn't matter what the facts may be they are either ignored or disbelieved as suits the recipient. There has always been a chronic level of racism in this country it is just hidden now. The cry that there i...

Felt rough last night and let my wife give me a shoulder rub. It was only the 2nd time I have ever let anyone rub my shoulders. Once I got over the touch thing it was OK, but my mind is far too wired to relax anyway, I bolted upstairs after 2 minutes to lay in the bath and read a book in the peace &...

Problem is it isn't 3 bad skittles for just one bowl. The washington post does the math and it is more like 3 bad skittles per every 1 and a half sized Olympic sized swimming pools full of skittles. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/19/donald-trump-jr-inadvertantly-encourages-a...

Perth is fascinating to me because it's an outpost thousands of miles from any other urban area. Perth is great, Fremantle nearby is also really nice. I was once talked into going to Sydney by greyhound bus from Perth on my own. That was 3 days from hell. I also didn't think much of Sydney so...

i didn't realise that I really had too much sensory problems aside from not liking loud noises but when in my assessment last week my wife had written back to answer some questions. in there the assessor lady said that my wife had written back to say how much of the day I spend picking at my shirts ...

At nineteen I was drinking excessively, taking lots of hallucinogens and other illegal drugs. I was also having lots of sex, stealing, riding motorbikes with no insurance and pretty much being bad to the bone. I now do none of those things. People change, even autistics. pretty much this ^, but wit...

Started attending a meditation group around 20 years ago after going through some silly teenage moments (drugz, stealing, eating disorders) and have gone on and off since then depending on if I feel I need it. I should get back to it really, deffo helps to calm my somewhat wandering and frantic mind.

It is human nature to dislike people who are not from your own group. only for 52% of people. I certainly don't dislike people not from my own group, I would happily have higher levels of immigration here, doesn't matter a jot to me which bit of the floor someone used to be on, there are far bigger...

37 years old, was diagnosed 4 days ago. Right now it feels like it is sinking in in a nice way. I have always given myself such a hard time over being such a 'failure' and for the past 96 hours I sort of feel a little better about it, as if the quirks are just me, so hey ho. I do really want a new c...

Love fiction, pretty much only read fiction, and books are my real obsession. I do have an unwritten rule that if there is anything in the story that could not possibly be real (space ships, goblins etc) then I stop it immediately. I am the same with films and watching telly, the second someone says...

Hi Biscuitman. Happy you've got your diagnosis. I know you were nervous about it. Still awaiting mine... Not that nervous about it but I know if they say 'no', I'll be constantly thinking 'what's wrong with me?' as I know something is there and I'm 90% certain I know what it is...but will be reliev...

Congratulations on the DX Biscuitman :) I remember being incredibly relieved, and in slight shock and disbelief, when I got mine. What did the rest of the process end up looking like for you? Lots of paperwork to complete, questions to answer and then a 3 hours chat with a specialist. She told me a...

Received my diagnosis today, Autism/Asperger's Syndrome. A feeling of relief, at least there is a reason I have found many things in life difficult. I intend to write a post about my experience of the assessment process, but it may take me a little while. Well done mate. You sound like you are view...
