1. Without a doubt, stories. Whether its books, graphic novels or movies, losing myself in stories has been the best, most dependable therapy I've ever run across. 2. Especially when combined with #1; Audio isolation. Both silence and noise blockers. The absense of audio stimulus is just heaven to ...

Hiding in tons of blankets when I can.

Also walking in nature helps a lot. Quiet and peaceful.

That is great! Just to have that, so those like you with sensory issues can shop in peace. You not only have helped yourself, you've helped anyone else who also has sensory issues with going to the store.

yes, this is the heart of autism! Social struggles and communication struggles are 2 of the main ways we are diagnosed with autism. We have to have both to even be considered for autism diagnosis. Communication with my husband is the same. After 40 years I still have no idea what he is thinking, wh...

Yeah I don't know, I don't understand why it happens. It's not with all situations, but definitely some. Maybe I'm just extra bad with this trait.

Being accused of wanting to destroy my sibling's family, when that is the last thing on planet earth that I'd want to do. I love them a lot and have shown it in many ways. That really hurt a lot and still does. Have not gotten over that yet.

My husband and I sometimes get into upsets, usually over me misreading him. The thing is, we've been together for over 16 years, and sometimes I still will not pick up on or outright misread how he is behaving and the intention behind it. He gets confused by this (we are still learning about autism)...

Last summer when I was having major trouble with the loud noise of fireworks for the 4th of July holiday here in USA I was googling about trouble with loud noise of fireworks and kept coming up with how dogs hate loud noises and those with sensory issues with autism hate loud noise like fireworks. S...

I wouldn't say mine rotate, since that implies an order, but they definitely have periods of greater or lesser focus relative to my other interests. (Except for my interest in relationships, that's always high.) Right now, writing and math are high, while chess puzzles and science journals are low....

Oh yea I do this. I'll be real hard core into something for x amount of time, then it will sort of fall off and I'll just be not doing much till something else takes its place. It can be days or a few weeks that it lasts, or sometimes even a year or more than that. Its odd because its almost like yo...

There's a grocery store near us that I'm fine going to, if it's not busy. If it's busy I get really, really overwhelmed and find it hard to pay attention to anything. I can't handle all the information of trying to avoid everyone around me, try to look out for things we need, navigate to specific a...

I don't always have this trouble, but I notice the busier it is the more likely it is to be worse. I had to go to the grocery store today for a little with DH (on a Sunday) and I almost couldn't stand to be in the store. Felt like all the little noises were hitting my ears at the same time and had t...

I do to some extent. For work (as a female) I have 4 different colored identical polo shirts, and rotate them through the week and that is all that I wear for shirts at work. I have a grey pair of pants, a khaki, and a black, and rotate those too. This is my work wardrobe. I'm sure people think I'm ...

Yeah I have to write everything down. Helps a lot.

That is a good idea to automate anything that can be.

I wear simple clothes and rotate them so laundry isn't ever too bad. Also solves the what to wear that isn't going to drive me nuts problem.
