In addition to willingness to grow and change as a person, there's also the issue of having roll models of how to grow and change as a person. And people with autism have a lot less appropriate role models for them than NTs do.

There is a BIG difference between saying a self-diagnosis isn't a sure thing, that it isn't reliable, and considering self-diagnosed as posers. We're on page 21 of this thread, and we've had lots of talk about whether honest self-diagnosis is reliable and valid, but almost no talk about dishonest se...

On another note.....help is offered but not wanted.......each to his/her own I guess. What help? I seriously want to know. Telling people to get an official diagnosis that they can't get isn't very helpful. Who cannot get an official diagnosis, your DR refers you and then it's free. What help???Tha...

I was diagnosed with AS like 17 years ago way back in 1995. Therefore, I think self-diagnosed people should get off their azz and go do it. lol Why waste the time and money unless you are in need of treatment - and many cases with adults one winds up going in for something other than the Asperger's...

I really, really, dislike the term "culturally autistic". Maybe there's places where it fits, but not here. We aren't talking about learned differences, which is what "culturally autistic" implies. We are talking innate differences. Any cultural differences come out of differences that aren't cultu...

Personally, I think we need a definition of autism/asperger's that doesn't rely on a diagnosis. So many people with autism/Asperger's see it as a difference rather than a disorder. Having an officially definite psychiatric disorder shouldn't be required for saying "yes, I'm this way". I really want...

That's what I don't understand. I feel that they have as much of a right to be on WP. No one is saying the undiagnosed don't have a right to be here. Not that I've seen, and I'm one of those undiagnosed. They are saying undiagnosed shouldn't say they have Asperger's. Or autism. Personally, I think ...

I agree that unsubscribe is a option to consider. And, since you said block, not unfriend, I would also suggest unfriending rather than blocking is an option. There's no need to block someone if it's just that you don't want to be Facebook friends anymore. Unfriending is sufficient. But, unsubscribi...

.... also, the way the quiz results say "different ... than" really bothers me. You only use "than" when you're comparing "more" or "less". It doesn't make sense to say, "She's more different than others" if you mean that "others" aren't different at all. They would have to all be different, but by...

telling lies is not like faking autism. lieing is hard. faking autism would be much harder I think. Well from my own point of view I've been on an Asperger forum and the experiences I've had from interacting with others on there was often practically no different to interacting with NTs - so whethe...
