The EQ test I took was out of 60. I got a 30. Is that the same one? The one I took was at https://psychology-tools.com/test/empathy-quotient It has 60 questions but the score was xx out of 80. It must be related to the four different levels of answers times the number of questions. I too don't unde...

In my case at least, I still have scars on my psyche from childhood and teenage bullying. When inflicted, they felt like bleeding wounds (a few actually were), but with time, they've healed over although they may never be gone completely. Learning more about myself and about the nature of bullies ha...

I took the test, got a 22 out of 80. Took it again, got 20 out of 80. Two of my relatives claim to be highly empathetic. One claims to be an empath (which I'm fairly certain doesn't exist outside of science fiction and woo land). Yet I have experienced what seemed intentional cruelty from both of th...

I got my BS, but it took 8 years. Helping take care of my dying grandmother, depressions, abusive relationship, single motherhood, another HORRIBLE relationship, related court case, minor mental breakdown. UGH (that thing about Aspies not being able to recognize nasty people - so very true in my cas...

I have a very large personal space bubble. Crowding that pushes inside it makes me very tense. If it gets too much and I can't get out, I'll basically freeze and shut down. In cases like the chair around the table, I'd push the chair back enough to get my proper sized bubble, but that sometimes gets...

Not so much with animals as an obsession (although I love my elderly cat dearly), but plants are the thing I focus on. I can't hike, only amble, because I'm constantly shrieking "FLOWER!" and having to squat down, examine it in detail, ID it or puzzle over it. Next comes hauling out the ca...

I'm not going for an official diagnosis for several reasons. I'm 61, almost 62, taking early social security and moving to an inexpensive country, so there is no financial advantage. In fact, the whole process would be expensive, drawn out and cost me quite a bit. For someone else, the finances and ...

Yes. Meltdowns* and their association with depression were what pushed me into hunting down answers that ended with autism spectrum. The flood of adrenaline and whatever else hits me during a meltdown also leaves me exhausted, often for days or more. *I didn't even know what they were, just that som...

Take your time and be careful: after the first "euphoric" phase where I felt that finally everything made sense, I had a more difficult one, the "sinking in" phase. Be kind to yourself and don't hesitate to ask for help here :) Good advice. The nice thing for me is that this giv...

Thank you Bender. So far, I'm mostly relieved. So many things make sense now. And there's advice on how to deal. The biggest thing I have to deal with now is moving to another continent in the next 6 weeks. I already knew that was going to be a bit of scary and anxiety producing process. The big cha...

You could try taking a 30 day break and see how you feel afterwards. Warning, the first week can be hard. Social Media is specifically designed to be as addictive as slot machines.

My niece is going to come stay with my mom for 3 months after I move, AND she's going to adopt my elderly cat. Huge relief.
