You have AS. This is the fundamental problem between AS and NT. AS cares about WHAT you say. NT cares about HOW you say it. (yes, you can be completely wrong and it's ok if you say it the right way. This is total madness to AS people) I experience this all the time. What you are encountering is that... |

I have the same issue. I don't feel hunger and don't know I need to eat until 18 hours later. I can easily go 36 hours before realizing I hadn't eaten. I attribute it too this: http://neuro.psychiatryonline.org/article.aspx?articleid=101770 Smell is an important factor to enjoying food and if your s... |

For me, nearly all negative emotions equate to tired. I can't describe how I am except for tired. |

I went through the discussion and sifted it for pertinent information and tried to organize it in a logical manner. Perhaps a cleaner look can give others more insight into the questions that should be asked and what direction research should go. This is an attempt to support Memesplice's letter to ... |

This difference in what is important can cause a lot of communication problems. It's still baffling to me that... |

It's also possible to "hide" behind a diagnosis. Meaning, you can start blaming the diagnosis instead of trying to solve the problem. For people who are high functioning and able to act independently, a diagnosis has no value for getting help and the chance of it being a hindrance is pretty good. Th... |

What if you just asked for help? Don't bring up the reciprocating at all, just ask for help. Your friend may ... |

In Chapter 3, Social Understanding and Friendship, Attwood describes children with AS as wanting to socialize and make friends, at least by the time they reach school-age, but not knowing how or going about it the wrong way. I feel that he has made a major assumption that children with AS do want t... |
