Do you know what things you do best at? To find the right work for you, you can take skills tests online or at an employment agency, or perhaps you can get tested through an agency or social worker referrals if you are working with those. If not, perhaps contacting any work support groups ( most sta...

welcome! I learned about my autism at age 65 and was formally diagnosed at 3 days before my 68th birthday. I will be 70 this year. Diagnosis was the best thing since my marriage and the birth of my 2 kids. It helped me understand all the pains and struggles of my life since early childhood. So many ...

I think it is really important to us to understand which ways we learn and understand the best. I used to try to understand videos and lectures, movies ,youtube and listen to podcasts but when I was diagnosed, I found out those were the worst ways for me to interact or get information. I have very l...

welcome! I do so much better on a forum like this with printed words. I do not do as well where I have to look and listen because my sensory processing is so bad. Words are the only reliable way for me to connect with others. I can't even message because I process things so slowly. email and forums ...

neurological testing at the time of diagnosis revealed not only 25th percentile visual processing but 35th percentile audio processing. That is very poor!! ! My hearing itself tests with a wider range than normal and is acute, I can hear sounds just fine, but when I hear words my ability to understa...

I did not know about my autism when I moved out on my own at age 19. I found I was poorly prepared. I did not know how to balance a check book, to plan meals for a week, to shop for food or anything else. I did not know about basic home care such as pilot lights, fuses or electric boxes, furnace fil...

I understand that this is sometimes used as a clue to help diagnose autism.
If a person lacks insight or common understanding of common situations, outcomes, interactions, sayings or word usages etc, then that is sometimes called lack of common sense.

it is just another day I absolutely hate it when people make a fuss. I will be 70 this year and I hate that somebody who knows me is already threatening to throw a surprise party. She doesn't know or understand me if she actually thinks I would like this. I have told her, but I am very anxious over ...

depends on the person. Just like in real life, I don't find much in common with most people here (except of course the obvious autism) Once in a while interest will spark if I think I might see a person's point of view over something I am interested in too. It would take many comments and posts wher...

I have never been able to do that unless I swallow air first. amazing the things you learn on a forum. I don't find much similarity between tachycard...

yes, it was not until after I knew about autism and thought I am probably autistic that I began to have "aha" moments. I learned that I have very little ability to process anything in motion/ real time, that leads to no being able to follow action movies, most videos, most real life sports...
