Good question... My life is a very dark and painful place right now. I am to be tested an diagnosed in December. I'm pretty sure I have AS. I have been struggling all my life: family, school, work. I'm 44yo and I'm at the point I can hardly work and function in life. I haven't heard about AS until f...

I've had the same job for 15 years, but it's been getting progressively worse. I'm nearly at the point where I can't work more than a few hours a day before I either burn out or just shut down. I come late, leave early, call in sick frequently. I told my management what I'm dealing with and since I'...

I never quite thought that way, but yeah... this describes me too basically.

Mind you, I'm not officially diagnosed yet. Outside of work I'm completely isolated, not counting my wife and my mom, I see no one, I have zero friends. It has been like this for years. I'm 44 yo. I've had one friend in the last 15 years, but he passed away recently. I've been trying to have social ...

That too. Agreed. I wear mainly black, blue and dark earth colors. I don't like to stand out either.

Me? Jeans, t-shirts and sneakers every day until they wear out. The only clothing I care for is biking and hiking clothing, for functionality though, not looks. I keep clean however, I don't like to smell. My own body odor would bother me. I shower 2x a day and change clothes daily. I cut my hair an...

Does anyone else not 'get' why most people like kids so much Evolution. Preservation of species. Most people are genetically coded to want, protect and like kids so Homo Sapiens won't die out (which actually would be good for the planet, but that's another story..) Some are not. I don't like kids e...

I don't think you can make a living solely from having AS without the intermediary of some related skills. Unless some nations give Social Security style money for that Dx. Sounds like a sweet job though. :p Unless you're lucky to turn your obsession into a career and find an employer who will acce...

Depending on the severity of your symptoms you may be able to learn to compensate for some of them (although prolonged compensation can lead to fatigue), learn some behaviors and responses or avoid situations that are not "compatible" with you. I'd suggest reading and learning as much as you can abo...

I experience mental fatigue that almost has physical symptoms, usually after a day of work. I'm constantly tired when I have to work. But I'm able to ride my bike, it's not actually physical, it just feels like it. Although, it often carries over into weekends and I can't go for long bike rides just...

I say "no" a lot, actually. There are lots of things I don't want to do and lots of places I don't want to go as well as lots of people (most of them actually) I don't want to talk to. So "no", is my frequent reaction. Although people who know me closely learned to stop asking.

I'm very visual. I can imagine something, as a whole, that already exists, as well as something that doesn't exists yet, or I haven't seen it. I remember my life and work related things as images rather than numbers: I have a photographic memory but I can't remember dates, phone numbers, formulas, e...
