More free-form than random. For example, you're going to eventually get to the chapter in your geology text on earthquakes, right? No harm in ever so casually leafing through it now. And you might get more out of it than you think. You're giving yourself more choice. And hopefully, studying can be f...

You could watch a documentary on advanced physics and get a lot out of it, even if you never took college physics, or even high school physics for that matter. Many times when you start to understand a topic, you kind of arc across it. You see the three main things, or the four main things, or the t...

I just tell them that I'm not fluent with body language, can't do subtle and have trouble tracking conversations in a distracting environment . . . . . . get caught up in work and projects a lot, need alone time to recuperate, have difficulty figuring out how my actions are interpreted, etc. . . . ...

For me, it's if a social thing doesn't work out toward the end of the day. Then, it's a busted day. And it reminds me of all the other things that haven't worked out. (and it can be a very small thing toward the end of the day) Sometimes it helps for me to then plan to get out and do something early...

Interesting IMO the #1 fix with the talking/doing the wrong thing is backing off I blow you off/let it go in one ear out the other then ALMOST fired/kicked from College etc. :-( When possible, I try and look at it as a sign of respect. The person needs space, I will graciously let him or her have s...

The social issues for me are mainly saying/doing the wrong thing. Learn skills of recovery. It's the higher order skill. Okay, you say the wrong thing, so what? Gently ease back, go sideways, go lateral. Occasionally, give the other person space. It's not about the perfectionist thing of never maki...

. . . at least one of which I need as a buffer to keep the hose from the mask of my CPAP from digging into my arm, and another to keep my other arm from getting pins and needles. . . . Might need a softer mattress, or an extra layer of egg crate foam for your existing mattress. I used to sell mattr...

Good for you, jimb424! Maybe there is something to opposites attract, and complementary personalities, and so on, afterall. Now, it is repeated too often, it's repeated rather like a mantra as if it is always true. And with us complex human beings, both 'normals', with their issues and us Aspies cer...

Yes, I can trust right now. It's in the moment when I read/misread verbal cues.... Can you add skills of gentle and matter-of-fact recovery? For example, if you push too hard, gently and easily back off. 'Okay.' You don't need to explain. You don't need to give a big apology, or really any apology ...

Okay, the sample I posted yesterday is what I have in mind. I may have overdone it. But there it is.

So, can anyone recommend a good blog site for serious subjects where you build up the subject over time?

Can you view it in terms of learning a second language? At age 46, I may never become completely proficient at, say, Hindu, but I bet if I steadily worked at it in a casual, offhand manner, I could become pretty good. Now, casual and offhand doesn't mean you don't care about the other person. One, y...

I'm looking to do some work on the swine flu, as follows: Report Finds Swine Flu Has Killed 36 Children, New York Times, Denise Grady, Sept. 3, 2009, http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/04/health/research/04flu-001.html “ . . . In children without chronic health problems, it is a warning sign if they see...

. . . Nothing impresses the boss more than the Aspie penchant to be prompt, coffee already drank, lunchbox stowed, rigged up and ready to go at the stroke of starting time. . . . But you need to be casual about it, and that's the zen of it all! If the boss is late, that is perfectly okay. Even if t...

That would be like fancy play syndrome in poker. Instead, keep it simple. Know what the company does. You'd be amazed at how many people don't and amazed at how much 20 minutes on the Internet the afternoon before can help. But don't overdo it. Do not over invest. Just do it light to medium. And kee...

Congratulations! Now, being a little strategic, get there consistently 5 to 8 minutes early. That will be considered a good thing out of all proportion to what it's worth (in my opinion). But apparently, that is the way the game is played. So, choose to be dependable in this highly visible manner. O...
