My biggest roadblock is my anxiety, especially social anxiety. Yes, there are difficulties in self-disclosure. Most things I've read on it have said that it's best not to disclose until the last possible moment (i.e. after they offer you an interview or after they offer the job, if you can hide it)....

Is that really how people see autistic males? If so then I would hope that they do move away from that perception. It does seem that there is a lack of awareness as to what autism really is. Same question. Yes they do I saw a disgusting comment on a video accusing a young boy of killing his sister ...

I think that they should improve the voc rehab system so that it does a better job of helping all people with disabilities.

I've always known that I'm kind of weird. It wasn't until the last year or so that I began to consider ASD as a possible explanation. I'm trying to let go of the need to cover it up and just figure out who I really am without forcing myself to try to be like everybody else. I fail at it all the time...

Also the Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffery. And any book by Mercedes Lackey, although hers are more fantasy than sci-fi. Both of these series do have a bit of romance, though, not sure how much is too much for you.

If you haven't read them yet, the Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams are both written in an easy-to-read style. They are both science fiction.
