Mental retardation ain't the end of the world either. IQ is for the most part, only a predictor for how well someone does at school (not to mention that you can't really determine the actual intelligence (IQ) of someone who lacks verbal ability; it's more than likely that their spatial awareness is ...

Asking if people here are extremely asocial would be like asking if most people are morons.

I actually wouldn't mind attempting archery in the paralympics; give me four years of daily training (see: recreation :P) and I'd probably at least qualify (one of the few things I'm good at is putting arrows and lead on target).

But we figured that I'd be too disabled for it though.

I love this TF2 quote:

Quote:
"Now, hold on," you keep saying. "Aren't bows and arrows primitive and harmless?"
Why don't you ask the dinosaurs? Except you can't, because the cavemen bow and arrowed them to death.

I have a doozy:

After seeing a psychiatrist for over a year (OCD), I brought up the possibility of an ASD due to my own research. His response:

"I always thought you had Asperger's."

I had seizures and high fevers after mine when little (the former probably caused by the latter).

I theorize those with ASDs are actually more prone to experiencing side-effects of such (after all, they are more prone to experiencing side-effects from medication, as per eMedicine).

Yeah, I like them. I often see wedge-tailed eagles gliding in circles up in the sky over the property; usually in pairs, but sometimes one. I also hear and see powerful owls at night (they're big and they eat the possums). I saw one (eagle) drag a dead kangaroo off the road once. I've seen some smal...

Wow, what a godawful thing to do. It's one thing telling someone that you're going to do this, and a totally different one when not told. The emotional trauma of having someone bound you and threaten you have a "knife". That'd be awfully scary and traumatizing. Plus the several really bad outcomes, ...

Not everyone has the resources to provide for their child for the life of the parent plus the life of the child. No, they don't, but the government does. The government can provide financial assistance (enough for food and medication), and also housing if something happens to the parents. There's n...

My mother didn't care when I wasn't talking at 5. She just said I was a walker rather than a talker. I gained speech overnight though, but it didn't change anything. My mother doesn't care that I have to live at home forever (I'm 31 now). My mother doesn't care that I can't work. She cares that I'm ...

Tested as an adult and with the symptoms of Asperger's and not Autistic Disorder (they're different), and with an IQ of 75 or over, you'll be given AS. You shouldn't score lower than 75 unless you're massively overwhelmed during the testing process. When you start to get around 50-60, that's when it...

Yes, snakes bite dogs and cats for the simple reason that they attack the snakes. Not the snakes' fault there. Ticks are far more of a concern if you have pets when living in rural areas though. O, and please, keep your pets within your yard, i.e., fenced areas. Having them kill the local wildlife f...

Autistic people are know for picking up emotions without recognizing exactly what they are picking up. They can do that too. Instead of feeling it, you're then confused due to not knowing what it is. It's kinda hellish to get all of these inputs from others and your brain doesn't know what to do wi...

Perhaps they just might not have autism (the 20%)? After all, the majority of those with an ASD don't actually have AS or AD, rather they have PDD-NOS, which is a box for people who don't fit Kanner's or Asperger's (see: autism); perhaps they might not actually have autism too (a good portion of any...
