I saw another YouTube video about "Wish" today. This guy said a few things I agree with. He said "absolute power corrupts absolutely" and he didn't see Magnifico as the reasonable king of a perfect society that was ruined by people getting their wishes back. However, he regarded ...

Using the term "leftist" pretty much saps any actual standing one might have. There is no such thing as leftism and as such no leftists. As far as the topic goes, the key word here is "fictional." There's all sorts of fictional things that people like that they wouldn't care for...

Usually, I try to look at the argument itself. A lot of people seem to want to dismiss arguments based on who said it. (Ad hominem fallacy.) Here's an example regarding movie criticism, which is a special interest of mine. If a critic gives a movie a bad review and I disagree with them, I will disag...

Yes, I've seen tons of comments on various platforms claiming Magnifico is the hero and Asha is the villain. I think "Wish" is possibly the worst canonical Disney Animated Classic. But I don't believe that particular criticism is true. It's mostly based on the idea that Asha wants to gran...

I've often sympathized with the villains and anti-heroes in stories. Especially the more sympathetic ones like Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett for example. Funny you mention "Sweeney Todd," because Sondheim musicals are one of my special interests :). Sweeney Todd is intentionally made sympa...

I don't know much about the Slow Movement. Sometimes I've said that if American culture could be summed up in one word, it would be "HURRY!" and it might be nice to slow down. I'm probably focusing on the wrong thing here, but I'm wondering, what is a "singer that only lip-syncs?"...

I feel compelled to get this out of the way: You've found people who like King Magnifico? Where? Do such people exist? There are people who liked Wish?? I would have rolled my eyes at everything about that trainwreck when I was 9. I suppose theoretically there must be at least one person out there ...

I wrote an entire post and the internet on my phone went off and took it away. Here's the short version: Why do people on social media who use Leftist/"Progressive" terminology seem to love fictional villains who are absolute monarchs that never make any attempt to share any of their power...

I've had my tone misread many times. I think of myself as being very meek and polite, but sometimes, people have still read some sort of "attitude" into what I said and responded with anger. One particular instance that I remember was at a job I had when I was a teenager. I got on the walk...

I always thought it was odd that in mainstream society, you were supposed to stop liking all these things at a certain age or else something is wrong with you, but you're allowed to root for the same sports teams from cradle to grave and that's perfectly OK. Happily, I think being interested in cart...

If you were the human character in the Disney-Pixar movie "Inside Out," which emotion do you think would be driving in your head? It doesn't have to be one from the movie or the upcoming sequel.

Mine would be Frustration.

I don't have kids, so I can't really say first-hand how public schools work these days. During the Obama administration, I used to look at Right-wing conspiracy books for laughs and they would try to whip up panic over atheists and/or Muslims brainwashing American schoolchildren. (I'm an atheist.) U...

The name "Wrong Planet" is what attracted me to this site. It sums up how I feel sometimes and I think it's meant to be somewhat humorous.
