^ I go by a nickname. I’m rarely called by my real name. I prefer the nickname. When my parents used my real name with me when I was a kid, I knew that I was in trouble.  |

Occasionally, I’d call my husband “dear,” but it was always ironically. It wasn’t a term of endearment. He’d flip out when I’d call him by his actual name.  |

Yes, guys can be abused in a variety of ways, too.
Due to the fact that men are often bigger and stronger than women, though, safety tends to be a bigger issue for women than for men when it comes to straight dating and relationships. |

I only used pet names with my first boyfriend, and they were similar to the ones he called me.
It was very silly, but I guess first relationships often are. |
