Sedentarian, I am curious. Are you feeling angry or afraid or overwhelmed at the thought of learning these social skills? It can be very overwhelming at times and I know that I have been brought to tears many times because of not "getting it" socially and making mistakes. Sometimes I have even felt...

I have had sexual fantasies but not many. In fact I think I may have only had one. I don't have a normal sex drive. Mine is very low and only gets activated maybe every few months for a couple of hours at the most. I was very "hormonal" when I was going through puberty but that has really gone down....

I find it bizarre that you guys know what is socially acceptable as I am not aware I have committed a social crime until someone informs me of it, maybe I am just more oblivious to it. Where do you guys learn this stuff? Do you learn by watching sitcoms and watching how people act? I am still learn...

I have Asperger's on my medical profile attached to my Road ID emergency bracelet. But you can have it engraved on the bracelet too. Here is the link. http://www.roadid.com/Common/default.aspx I wear mine when I am doing sports especially if I am alone but you can certainly wear it all the time. Man...

I was referring more to where people get upset at others or speak rudely to them or make posts that are not helpful but are rather just criticizing others for talking a lot about their issues. It's not really that they get upset about a lot of talking about issues, so much as any talk about it. Or ...

OP, You are not heartless. You just don't connect in the same way with that as some other people might. For me it depends on how close I am to the person. Sometimes I cry a lot for a very long time, sometimes I don't cry at all. Sometimes I even get a little scared. there are also times when people ...

Who is it you want to swat firmly (though not lethally) on the chin? Do tell!! ;-) LOL!! Actually just a dear friend who made a mistake. But it's all forgiven. You have a great night HighPlateau or day, since you are in Oz! :D It's actually quite the wee hours of the morning here so I had better ge...

Yeah I think the support is good and that's a great reason to tell our stories - just knowing we are not alone in the universe. How many of us thought we were until we came here? But also, we can work things out here that we can't work out by talking to ourselves alone. It's an important tool. High...

HighPlateau you are right. And I think that what you speak of is also a form of very valuable support. I have really appreciated when people have helped me in those ways here on WP as well. I was referring more to where people get upset at others or speak rudely to them or make posts that are not he...

Highplateau, sorry to hear about your ex friend. I have had a very similar experience a few times and it hurts to the core. Those kinds of people don't deserve to be friends to anyone. Here's a hug. As far as people dwelling on their autism or really going on about it, I think that it is important t...

I love that idea. I might use that for the things that challenge me. :)

Sedentarian, keep in mind that learning these skills does not mean that you are no longer you. You are still the same person but with a a valuable skill set that you can choose to use to help yourself and to help others whenever you wish. You will always be you and you will always be special, a uniq...

Oh, thank you so much for clarifying Wozeree. I was nervous that I might have offended or hurt people without knowing it and I always feel bad if I do that accidentally. Sometimes I do hurt people unknowingly because I don't always understand communication clearly. I guess we all have moments like t...

Skibum, before I asked this question, you were one of the people I was mentally trying to think of to answer it for myself. You did a great job explaining, thanks! Sorry about your stressful dinner. My original question wasn't really so much about people who look like they are doing well, but are s...
