@ Aimless: I think exec dysfunction can be a part of both ADHD and AS. In my college neuropsychology book, executive functioning is discussed in the same chapter as attention, and is discussed pretty extensively in the ADHD chapter, but it is also mentioned as a possible underlying neuropsych defici...

Normal IQ doesn't mean you can't have AS. Only if your IQ is below 70 you can't have AS. That is at least what the official criteria (DSM-IV and ICD-10) say. Research may or may not have shown that Aspies generally have high IQs, but as long as the criteria aren't changed , you can still have an AS ...

Hi, welcome. :) It's interesitng to read about your experiences in the diagnostic process. It pretty much illustrates how professionals like to redo testing that others already did because they apparently don't trust their colleagues...I was first diagnosed with ASD in another city in March of 2007,...

i think i do, what do they feel like? [i] It depends. There are many different types of seizures. Since I myself do not have seizures, I cannot tell what a seizure feels like to the person experiencing one, but each different type of seizure causes different symptoms. For example, people who have g...

From what I know, living on your own can be great and it can be disastrous, depending on many different aspects. I myself was not successful at living on my own, because of isolation, not being able to manage all my duties, and generally being severely overloaded by all that it took from me to live ...

I am left-wing liberal (in the Nethelrnads, "liberal" means right-wing). On a Dutch forum similar to this one, the majority generally is socialist, but this is probably because the Socialist Party most protects disability benefits, public healthcare, and other social security that autistics statisti...

If your meltdowns may occur at random, without anyt...

Hi folks, I joined WP way back in 2007, intending to become an active participant. As it goes with most forums I decide to frequent, it didn't turn out this way. IN this case, the reason was however different from the usual fact that I join more fourms than I can keep up with on a regular basis. I w...

I remember that the doctor used to think that my siste rhad a buzz near her heart when she was a baby. She doesn't have any heart defects, but the diagnosis was never removed from her records and years later a school physician asked her about it (she knew nothing about it). I myself don't remember h...

I've not had really bad things said about my condition. Two things that really annoy me though are either "you need to try harder, you aren't trying" (as in: you don't really have AS the problem is you'r enot trying your best) from my sister, and my old support worker repeatedly claiming that I suff...
