I knew his earlier designs had problems, I didn't know how much he'd been sued over them, or that he lost his license for 17 years. I've known that other builders have modified his designs to avoid leaking. I'm not sure what to tell you, I've watched countless hours of people living in and working ...

on the surface, it appears to be an odd mix of far left socio-political ideology and far right conspiracy paranoia (in terms of the latter, especially the ideas espoused in the original film), with a streak of proto-fascist futurist idealism. a weird mix, altogether.

peebo, no such thing as enforcement. understand, was just thinking from the point of view of most of the world's population smoking. i don't think "most" of them would necessarily want to out of choice. Just being liberal about it - paranoia probably arises out of prohibition itself, so the proport...

i don't think so. i've known of more than a few people who both smoked and held questionable beliefs. besides, if the entire world smoked cannabis, half of us would be paranoid and delusional. and wouldn't it be a tad fascist to enforce cannabis smoking on the entire world population?

How does this reflect poorly on Michael Reynolds. His earthship design makes housing more sustainable and reliable. Sure he looks like a slob, but his actions speak otherwise. they don't really. wasn't he being sued left and right and eventually struck off before arguing that his designs were exper...

well michael reynolds is a bit of a joke. resource based economy has been ripped apart numerous times on this forum by people from all over the political spectrum. the zeitgeist films appear to be some sort of propaganda vehicle to get people to join the zeitgeist cult.

declension has the right idea.

i wonder, whitewidow, if you can be more specific in the link between your proposition and the video? all i see is a rather trite music video, many of which exist. what is in there that you think is relevant to what you believe to be happening in the wider world?

It's hard to say, but its one of those funny things. Do the occupy members have a clue about being a Type A achiever, working your ass off, going through 6+ years of college + grad school, interning every summer at a high pressure firm and so on? I often find that people who have done the work want...

it would surely depend upon how one defines civilisation. there are surely some who would argue that it has never existed at all.

i thought that everyone, spiritualists included, agreed that spiritual things are hallucinations? That depends if we can find a medical problem that causes the hallucinations. Does it really matter if someone knows if they're hallucinating? Shamanistic use of ayahuasca comes to mind. Some think it ...

i thought that everyone, spiritualists included, agreed that spiritual things are hallucinations? That depends if we can find a medical problem that causes the hallucinations. i don't really like the medicalisation of mental health, so what i shall do is put medical in inverted commas, i.e. "medica...

I see anarchy has the lead. WTF are you people thinking? You all bi+ch about bullying, meanness, hate, and intolerance, and whatever and at the same time you want to open the doors of hell. You won't realize how much you love rule of law until it's gone and you really do find out what bullying, mea...

i'd like to see how this ban on housing benefit for under 25s is expected to work in practice. there is no way that it can be an across the board ban, as this would effectively render homeless under 25s homeless until such time as they turn 25, which obviously would be attendant with knock on issues...
