The test, and who runs it, have all sorts of range. I agree with this. Also the child's approach to the test and his age could be factors. At six I know that I didn't have any sense of competitiveness, or pride of achievement -- except with my family because I cared what my parents and older siblin... |

I have experienced those times, and I've come to the conclusion that people aren't supposed to seek happiness necessarily. That belief seems to be a product of modern culture and religion. Maybe it's even been intensified as a goal by consumerism -- buy this and you'll be happy. Yeah, right. Life is... |

Let's start with something simpler, like a dodo or a thylacine. Goren's suggestion makes much more sense to me. Bring back something that mankind killed off fairly recently, and which might still have an existing eco-system to fit into again. Dinosaurs are fascinating, but their time came and went,... |

If it's any consolation in the future there is no evidence to support that it is genetic if it were my whole family would have it which they don't I'm the only one out of four kids that has anything on the spectrum (my half brother has schizophrenia but that's not AS) and my brother and sister have... |

Royal Histories. Tudors, Plantagenets, right now I'm reading about Queen Victoria. I love biographies and rarely, if ever, read fiction. When I was in junior high school, and we studied them in history class, I developed a temporary, intense interest in the English monarchy, the Tudors, and especia... |

Yes, both of those you mentioned. I also have an arrhythmia that, when it's active, I'm extremely sensitive to. Early on it used to send me into a panic attack. Just getting it diagnosed helped, though, so I know what it is, why it happens (both the congenital anomaly that causes it and what trigger... |

I get nervous energy from socializing, but for me that's not really good energy, as it gets my mind spinning and makes me unable to settle down for a long time and have trouble sleeping, so the next day I'm most likely dragging. Overall, it's draining of more time and energy than I like. |

I was lucky in the early years, and good thing because school was sort of terrifying anyway. I didn't know I was bad at sports then, because the school seemed to discourage competitive games and encourage getting along more than who was best. I even had some fun in those years. But in 6th grade, at ... |

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I have the most trouble when I'm talking, but it can also be a distraction when listening. It's worse when I'm tense. There are some people it's easier with, too. My father-in-law used to have this penetrating gaze that was actually painful for me to maintain when ... |

Welcome to WP, LilaAutism. I'm 53 and only realized about two months ago that what I've been noticing is different about me all my life has a name and is called Asperger's. I'm not diagnosed yet, but 99% sure just based on recognizing myself in the descriptions of it and going over childhood memorie... |

I usually associate the word "whine" with feeling victimized or powerless, and "rant" with surprise, outrage, or even anger. I suppose they are a bit overlapping in meaning at times. I know I've felt both at once on occasion. In fact, right now, about a county official coming after us with alleged c... |

Glider18, thank you for that post. I must confess that I've been put off by the posts suggesting that I might not be able to accurately diagnose myself. Trust me, I'd rather find a suitable professional to do that. But I'm new to the idea of Asperger's or HFA, and although I'm new, I have learned a ... |

There are over 100 billion galaxies, each of these galaxies have hundreds of billions or even trillions of stars many of them yellow dwarfs like the sun many or most stars likely have their own planets and solar systems. I often daydream and wonder what kinds of life are probably out there. does an... |
