In my experience, the "use by" and "don't freeze" labels can be ignored. A friend of mine was visiting last year and found a pack of buffalo mince in my freezer with a "sell by 2003" label. We cooked it up into a spaghetti bolognese alle bufala, and it was delicious. 15...

For me, the weakness in all the aphantasia quizzes is that they don't provide a definition of what it means to have a mental image of something. (And in fact, I don't know how it would be possible to give a definition. Maybe it is a case of "if you don't know what it means, then you don't see t...

I don't have any intuitive feel for what would be an appropriate amount of eye contact, and it in any case feels very uncomfortable and intrusive. I think if I tried to make eye contact, my entire attention and thought processing would become dominated by thinking about how long I should maintain ey...

I was just thinking. I have heard it said that those on the spectrum are good at masking. I have used humour like a mask as it gives some sort of linking means by which I can become acceptable, I mean.... If I don't use humour getting a conversation going can be hard. Usually I would keep quiet. .....

The results were not what I expected , I didn't think I had ASD ( or more factually , I changed my mind on a weekly basis about the possibility ) and even made a bet with a member , I said I would get a Ferret tattoo if I had ASD.

And...obvious question...did you get the tattoo?

Maybe I am reacting like an aspie archetype, but I would not favour any change. Far too many things in this world are changed for no very good reason.

An example that just occurred in my life is I was waiting for my cup to come around to the front of the microwave. I do that because I'm in a wheelchair and need to be able to reach it easier (it's an under-cabinet type). When it comes near, I just open the door. Now I was thinking "While I wa...

"Is it normal to not be able to visualise things AT ALL? " Maybe not "normal," but is is certainly something that is now recognised as a condition. I have it too; it is called aphantasia. I have absolutely no mental imagery, and have no conception of what it would be like to be a...

Crinkle -- like food packaging. I go absolutely freaking berserk. I can't tolerate it at all. There are many others, but crinkle is so intolerable I can't even begin to describe it. Yes! It's almost my number one hate! People chewing, sneezing, throat clearing and coughing are close runners up, tho...

I took the test, got a 22 out of 80. Took it again, got 20 out of 80. Two of my relatives claim to be highly empathetic. One claims to be an empath (which I'm fairly certain doesn't exist outside of science fiction and woo land). Yet I have experienced what seemed intentional cruelty from both of t...

Also, can I ask you a question. How did you put the things like your "Aspie Score" (if that is the correct thing to say) on the bottom of your posts or profile or wherever? You go into "My Account" and then you add things like that if you wish to the signature area. You can prev...

I interpreted it as: fully capable of carrying on a conversation if need be, but not as inclined to do so (especially with strangers in passing) as the average NT. You can converse just fine, vocabulary-wise. Socially, you'd prefer not to, or it's always a little less easy and less natural for you ...

OBSERVATION: People here saying "I'm verbal and conversational...but I don't like to talk to strangers, or I only talk to people I trust," I think you missed the subtext of "conversational" and answered incorrectly.

So what is the subtext? I guess I'm still missing it.
