" 'They remind me of the fireflies on Mercator. You remember how the millions of those pseudoinsects would cluster on hillocks and trees and all pulsate with their light together? Those on one hill would answer the beacon flashes of those on another hill, and yet they were creatures so small th... |

i like it, especially the art. it's a curious sensation to feel, that this very recent & short-lived sub-subculture already seems part of history & dead as ancient egypt; hence its allure. those purples, like the blue of chartres--lost to us. |

--& i think, it is worth emphasizing (what most of us already know) that the range of (lower- to higher-) functioning differs in the same person depending on time, surroundings, & circumstance -- which, if it is not the very criterion of AS, certainly one thing in which there is a much wider... |

Given that we now understand autism incidence as mostly if not entirely genetic, despite your presentation your ideas are not simply arrogant nonsense. It is obvious that in the present society, being autistic does not mean either survival advantage or even an ordinary chance of reproduction, so if ... |

i always was good at any sort of math, but i especially loved algebraic transformations (which i could do in my head faster than i could write them). it felt just like squeezing silly putty into different shapes, & the pleasure it gave me was almost tactile. |

i don't know for sure it's because of handedness issues (i was left handed but forced to write with my right), but i can't keep a regular beat as a drummer. the rhythm accelerates or slows, or syncopates arbitrarily, & this seems to me the real rhythm, not a deviation from it. (i also have troub... |

there's a form of four-player chess called bughouse, where the two teams each play white & black opposite each other, & the captured pieces from one board can be placed anywhere on the other teammate's board when it's their turn. couple this with a speedy time-limit, & amazing checkmates... |

i think part of the stigma is the simple fact that, on the one hand, you can't say we are underneath an apparent difference , just like them. and on the other, nothing is more disturbing to them than a secret they can't get at . so, contempt but also: paranoia . it's the cognitive dissonance between... |

good question. i have always had a memory of being in a crib with a diaper, & feeling mad because i wanted to wear pants & walk around freely like the other humans were doing, & i felt i was grownup-conscious enough to do so. when i first started school, we were given outline-pictures to... |

it's funny. i prefer an invariable lifestyle, but i am always searching out novelty in a few areas of interest. for example, the less some music resembles what i'm already familiar with, the better i like it. (a new group is good, a new genre is great.) --i think the answer to this question does def... |
