I have mixed feelings about anti-depressants. I don't think anyone's first reaction to a person being mildly or moderately depressed ought to be medication. In many cases studies have shown that other treatments are just as effective for mild to moderate depression, and they don't have the potential...

They are not entitled to specifics. +1 I'd add that they're not entitled to anything. I have a friend who is on the spectrum who has a really, really hard time not giving a full and truthful answer to every question he is asked. It's really hard for him to grasp the distinction between lying and ju...

Love without sex. No contest. I could be quite happy with that.

I'm in the USA. At my university the possible grades for letter-graded coursework, at least for undergrads, are: A (4.0) A- (3.67) B+ (3.33) B (3.0) B- (2.67) C+ (2.33) C (2.0) C- (1.67) D+ (1.33) D (1.0) F (0.0) (There are other "special" grades like W if you withdrew from a class, P for pass/fail ...

I want it noted that the term "gender assigned at birth" is utterly silly, since we can not be assigned a gender that young in age, we do not have brain sofisticated enough for that kind of code at that age. What? Where I live everyone is assigned either a male or female gender at birth, and I'm pr...

So am I autistic, or am I just someone who was raised as the wrong gender? That's what I wonder. It sounds to me like you are both. But it is very plausible to me that autistic traits are even more stigmatized when they appear in females than in males. I think the interaction between autism, gender...

I don't care is sexuality is a "choice" or not. Whether one "chooses" to be gay is irrelevant to the fact they deserve the same respect as anyone else. Well said. I didn't choose to be gay. But if I did, it still wouldn't justify people hating me. (On the other hand, one can certainly choose whethe...

In general I don't like it. When you get a group of four or six random people or whatever, inevitably some of the people in that group will try to do as little work as possible, and/or will just be really obnoxious people with whom it is very hard to work. Now, if I get to choose who I am working wi...

I wouldn't call myself face-blind, but sort of... Face-recognition-challenged? I can recognize faces. I am much worse than average at it but not totally incapable.

I'd just stop showing up.

If someone asks why you haven't been coming any more, say you've been too busy.

I've belonged to quite a number of clubs at my university. People start and stop coming all the time. No one really thinks much of it.

Also, for what it's worth, I know more than one trans person who has been called "it" specifically as a way of demeaning them based on their gender. So not only is it generally a bad thing to call someone, it's a sort of transphobic slur, hence my "fa***t" example.

I guess I can see why they would think it's insulting, but if I tell them "it" doesn't insult me, why do they still think it's insulting? We've been conditioned to think of calling someone "it" as a bad thing. You saying you're not insulted by it is not going to stop people from feeling very uncomf...

I'm not sure if I ever feel in denial, exactly, but I certainly feel doubt. Part of this has to do with the frustration of being in this sort of weird limbo between professionally diagnosed and self-diagnosed, probably. If and when I get a truly "formal" diagnosis that will probably lessen some of t...

I do feel bad when I unintentionally offend someone. If I've unknowingly said something offensive I generally want to know about it so I can avoid saying it again. At heart I really want to be a nice person, I guess...
