I think I've just watched one of the best games I've ever seen. Well done to a talented Belgium but what a performance from USA to nearly come back from losing 2 late goals. Many a team would have lost heart but the American team not only pulled a goal back, they found the energy and spirit to have th...

Yes,while it's right that the heroism of those who took part should be appreciated and remembered,I feel a little uncomfortable with the scale and triumphant mood of the celebrations. The veterans themselves always act with dignity,it's the media that seem to go over the top.

The fact that Scotland unanimously rejected the UKIP project should be a shot across your bows. I'm not a UKIP supporter, but I'd have to acknowledge that Scotland didn't unanimously reject them, they actually gained 1 of the 6 seats available. This was much to the SNP's dismay as they can no longer ...

Hi and welcome I'm a Glasgow native, now converted to a Paisley 'Buddie'. I grew up in the days when Asperger's hadn't been 'discovered' or at least wasn't in the public domain.I only stumbled upon it on the internet when I was in my 40s and a light went on in my head, explaining all the difficulties ...

When I hear songs that move me,I always make a point of finding out who wrote them. When you discover that many of the best songs were written by the same people, like Pete Seeger, you realise how influential they've been.
A time to live and a time to die - but his influence will live on.

His name will live on in perpetuity. I'm proud that my home city of Glasgow was one of the first to honour him, renaming the square in which stood the then apartheid government's South African consulate 'Nelson Mandela Square'

I've never agreed with the argument for independence and the fact that we're being told we'd still have the same currency,be able to hold duel British and Scottish citizenship and not have any border controls, makes me ask 'What's independent about that anyway ?' . As far as retaining the pound is co...

Why I hate Malala ⋅ How can I accept Malala to be a hero, when her speeches do not have any Islamic or nationalistic agenda? How can I consider her to be my future leader when nothing she says or does imbues a false sense of superiority in me as a Muslim or a Pakistani? Over the past few ...
