I remember when I had surgery as a kid and woke up speaking Spanish. I'm glad you're doing so well. :) May I ask about the transport van? My mother has rather frequent medical stuff and the doctors always insist that a friend or relative has to drive her home, which always falls on my husband's shou...

The planet can't "die" because it's not alive. It's just a big space rock. Same for the other planets, if we ever live on them. The presence of trash or litter on Mars wouldn't be a problem for Mars. Only we humans would be annoyed by it.

Normally you do not schedule appointments with your therapist, but with your therapist's receptionist/secretary. You should be able to call the receptionist during business hours and just talk to them and schedule an appointment. If you are trying to contact the therapist directly, that is rather un...

One of my oldest friends is a spectumite with diagnosed with klinefelter's. She identifies as a woman. Now I will give you a bit of old person advice: you are a unique and special individual, and the most important labels you can have are the ones like kind, generous, loyal, good-hearted, and friend...

Don't know what you mean. There are non-verbal people who've never been taught to read or write and have spent almost their whole lives in institutions.

However, there seems to be next to no help or support available to "high functioning" (and by that I mean people that can live independent lives to varying extents) Autistic adults in the form of specialist tailored therapies and / or counselling etc. What sorts of things would you like? ...

Supports for children exist to some extent because they are mandated by law. For example, the ADA says that all children are entitled to access an education. This means they must have whatever supports they need to succeed in school. (Whether they get those supports or not is a different matter. It ...

Huh. None of my Boomers use a bunch of ellipses. The only people I've seen using them are teenagers.

My kids have trouble with this, too. It helps if they come stand next to me so they can "sight" down my arm... Otherwise we just have to direct them to it. "Go forward. Forward. Turn left. Now bend down. Stick out your hand. There!"

I'm so sorry. That sounds truly hurtful. Even if it were actually going to be a small wedding, she could have been polite about it, not just constantly brushing you off. It sounds like you've been friends for a long time, so hopefully she'll come around and realize just how rude and mean she's being...

I don't think "my autism is 20% X" is even a meaningful statement.

The term she wants is "star chart," not pie chart. A pie chart shows you percents of a whole. Like, "Your autism is 20% meltdowns and 70% sensory issues." That wouldn't make sense. A star chart organized data along each point. So if the "sensory issues" point is long, t...

I have no idea. I wish I could convince him that liking cats is perfectly normal. But after a year of going to pet the neighborhood cats almost every day, he has finally started to accept that his siblings know.

Yes because it was viewed as sin to celebrate religious holidays because the first century church had no religious holidays. That's not true. Jesus himself celebrated Jewish holidays. It's in the New Testament! "Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in...

I hope people can find ways to avoid having to do such stressful things, at least around friends and family and loved ones. It seems like a lot of people are more worried about being judged than it's actually worth, though. School can be brutal, yes, but here in the adult world there's a lot more ro...
