Happy wife, happy life.. so, lie to her NT style: Wifey, I really like that the path you’ve chosen gives you times of great reward for your knowledge as well as times with abundant flexibility to spend time with family and make memories in between those high pressure high reward contracts. It’s a n...

Aaaah, you live where houses are $300-600k. Can’t buy a condo in many neighbourhoods for that anymore. I think the OP is doing well. My question is how would your wife possibly be able to work if she has four children, two of whom are nonverbal, toileting on the floor, while she's also expecting? I...

I only have 1 kid, have a combined income of 6 figures, live in one of the lowest cost areas in the country, have my house paid off, and can barely make ends meet. You must be doing something right financially! My wife spends a lot of money, so does the daughter. They never "do without". ...

Pros of my life at this point: - married, have 4 kids and 1 on the way. I like being a dad and husband. - Have a career that has great work life balance and enough pay to have a solid middle class lifestyle - The pandemic has been a major plus, now I work from home permanently. Before the pandemic I...

Alright I'll take you at your word but this whole thing sounded to me so over the top "stereotypical autistic" that I assumed it was. 1. Conversations are never about topics. They are about people. 2. You interrupted a convo and tried to change topics to something you wanted to talk about....

You should buy a mirror. mindless one-liners won't contribute to an intellectual discussion. Care to elaborate? He's not wrong. You don't get to pick your boss, but you can find some combination of changing your job and changing the way that you interact with the bosses. If there is a consistent is...

I work in a field in the US where about 95% of the staff is first generation immigrants. Almost all the managers grew up in different countries. My current manager did not grow up in the US - but he is a great manager. He comes from Eastern Europe. I have never had a manager that grew up in the US. ...

I find Chomsky, linguistics to one side, to be a poor political theorist, whose positions are often grossly immoral. Essentially he holds a massive double standard. If the US does something, it is bad. If someone else does something, it is not bad. He denied the Cambodian and Bosnian genocides, he ...

BANANA Bravo! I haven't read a serious non-fiction book in years but might consider reading that Chomsky book. Anyway Chomsky does seem to have produced some excellent analyses. Yeah when I was growing up, I was conditioned to react negatively to him. However, when I started actually reading about ...

I read it. And I didn't find it dry at all, I found it fascinating. So thank you for writing it. There are many isms that I don't know anything about because I've never read about them. I assume that many of the people who throw isms around like confetti dont actually know much beyond the headlines...

Banana. To be honest this was too long and dry for me to really engage with, and I see that was the case for others here as well.

Look, I can come across as an ahole about this; mainly because I studied this a lot and briefly taught it. I get annoyed when people misrepresent something. I also have this firm belief that you should have an open mind and study things you disagree with. I'm an agnostic but I've read the Bible, sig...

Marxism says the workers are being exploited and that leads to inevitable revolution. Many people would disagree with those assertions. Whereas you're stating them as fact. If you don't believe those things then what do you actually believe? Everyone seems to say that Marxism is left wing but you'r...
