Okay, so this is a little similar to my other thread focusing on services for adults , but this thread isn't so much asking for suggestions for intervention but moreso asking what types of difficulties you have that you would want help with. For instance, for myself I definitely have some immune sys...

Experiments for what purpose? To what end? I think he answered here. Physical pain, lots of chest, stomach, and shoulder/ arm pain. I know nothing is going to take the pain away but I've got nothing to do, and nothing to loose, I just want experiments I can focus on, on my self. As for suggestions....

My son typically has no more trouble with reading comprehension than the average kid, even though he has language issues. When reading history or science, he has no problem understanding what he reads and answering questions, even if the reading is stories about people or events in time. He has rec...

I am pretty okay with social things now. I mean I can act well enough to get along, but you know what I would genuinely like to be made available? Volunteers who would just be willing to listen to me talk at them about my special interests, how I feel about the world, share music/literature with et...

Don't get me wrong, I think in many ways the criteria are written better. However, you'll notice that it is technically more difficult to get an ASD diagnosis on the Asperger's end in that you now have to fulfill all three criteria, whereas before under the AS diagnosis, only two needed to be fulfi...

Some great ideas so far, guys. I really appreciate everyone taking the time. I'm taking notes on all suggestions. Also just to let everyone know that your answers won't be published, although they may be shown to various people within our group. However, all responses will be kept anonymous. So far ...

I rode in the passenger's seat today whit my wife driving and it made me think about this: Does anybody else that is dyspraxic have motion sickness? I only realized a couple of years ago that I have it. I always wondered why I got sick in cars, but I never "threw up," so I didn't think that it was ...

Would you mind explaining this last statement more? I'm not quite sure I understand.

Are there any kinds of services you'd like (or would have liked to have had when younger) that involve any co-occurring conditions, e.g., medical like epilepsy, GI problems, etc.?

Note: I'm editing the original post to include this question as well, for those who haven't read the thread already.

Also just wanting to point out that while the spectrum is still defined behaviorally, it is kind of a circular argument to say "Such-and-such is autism, to seek out individuals who fulfill those criteria, and say, 'See! We were right!" (Not that the same circularity doesn't apply to my ideas above a...

I disagree. If the new criteria are applied correctly, if you are considered Autistic now, you should still be considered Autistic when DSM V comes into play. The new criteria actually encompasses all AS traits. The only problems that may occur is with doctors who misread or misunderstand some of t...

I have no idea what help if any is available in my area or where and how to get it, especially considering that I have no insurance or money. For me I think helping me get and keep a job or helping me apply for disability if I just can't work would be the most helpful. There are some organizations ...

How about dressing so that people don't stare at you? Doesn't bother me too much but it does some others. One problem that could come from this (aside from having to figure out how to provide the person with money for clothes) would be telling the person what to wear and what not to wear. While som...

I don't disagree with collapsing it all into one spectrum category since the divisions between autism and Aspergers are a definitive gray area, but I dislike that there seems an emphasis and restricting the criteria to greater severity of presentation. It's stupid to call someone a "broader phenotyp...

OP, looks like you've gotten a healthy number of responses so far, but do you think this thread is better suited to another forum to get more people thinking on the topic? if you think it would be better suited to another area of the forum just let me know (i think Grisha has a suggestion above). i...

So some kind of program that could help with rehearsal, pre-preparing phrases, and acclimating to approaching people if there's anxiety involved? Things like that?
