I am a retired officer. I was an E-1 in basic training. How I passed is still a mystery. Once I adapted to Army life, I actually flourished in a regimented atmosphere. I moved in and out from active duty to the National Guard and Army Reserve. I didn't have too much difficulty with leadership positi...

The film maker Ken Burns created an excellent documentary about the 18th Amendment and the Prohibition years. First of all, it isn't easy to add an amendment to the US Constitution. A proposed amendment must be passed by a 75% vote in both houses of Congress. The amendment then goes to the states fo...

I don't really understand the anti-American vitriol on this site. Frankly, I am frustrated with it. First of all, I am the first to recognize that my country is not a paradise. It never claimed to be. Every country has its issues. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were never widely popular here. We w...

It's apparent that you don't mean to be this way. Much of the communication between people is actually nonverbal. Many of us Aspies are unaware of the nonverbal aspects of conversation. I have to be told when a conversation is concluded or else I will keep talking. I speak in a monotone voice and ra...

I have been to a Tim Hortons in Ontario. I think they are going to expand into the US.

Welcome to WP. I am 49 and diagnosed at 46. I, too, was often bullied as a child which left me wary and distrustful of other. I live in central Indiana amid the corn and soybean fields. I live in a rural area which affords me the quiet that I often need. I love travelling but don't have many opportu...

Charities have a valuable role in society, but they can't fill every need. In the nearby town of Crawfordsville, Indiana there are many people dependent on food stamps and other assistance. However, food assistance may not cover the entire month for some families. A local food pantry helps fill thos...

Is this the only university in the greater London area for you to attend? I am appalled at the power of UK universities to exclude students with mental health issues. Keep fighting. You deserve a better life for yourself.

I have never heard of such a thing. A lot a Aspergers books are for parents and children. I may also suggest another book called Finding Ben. It's excellent.

Well said. We had extensive classes on the M16 in Army basic training before we ever went to the firing range. That's why I think it's critical to clear rounds from the chamber.

I am not a conservative, but I don't believe that all conservatives are concerned only for the wealthy. Conservatives believe that aid to the disadvantaged should not be the concern only of government.

By the way, the Second Amendment to the US Constitution guarantees the right of citizens to bear arms. The first ten amendments are called the Bill of Rights. Thomas Jefferson believed them necessary to protect the rights of citizens against the tyranny of government. An amendment is difficult to ad...

I like firearms, as well. Here in America there are probably more firearms than people. It's difficult to gauge how many of us own rifles, shotguns, and handguns. There is a large sporting goods store, Gander Mountain, near my home that sells enough weaponry and ammunition to arm a small country. Re...

Welcome! I haven't been through Little Rock in a long time. I used to pass through on my trips from Ft. Hood to my home in Indiana. You may also want to read books by John Robison and Temple Grandin.
