Unregulated hormones may cause autism in many cases but normal hormones still produce NT children who are still good at “ Systemizing”, if that wasn’t the case we would have no NTs in science or technology like SBC himself. According to SBC's data, not only many autistic children but also many NT c...

One last note about hormones in pregnancy and autism. There`s a therapy for teenage girls with severe acne called Spironolactone which acts to lower male hormones. Its been given to aspie girls, and some have reportedly shown an improvement in symptoms https://thestaracademy.co.za/wp-content/uploads...

Respite is designed for parents / carers of those with higher needs, especially alzheimer's, dementia or severe mental disability. Its basically to give them a temporary break to relax, they take the person being cared for away somewhere usually fun like a park for example or in the case of dementia...

Was watching this YouTube video by Simon Baron Cohen, in regards to extreme male brain theory. He explains how science has struggled to find an autism gene in the majority of cases, leaving around 70% of ASD cases unexplained by just genetics alone. In it he provides very compelling evidence that “...

To Carlos: I don't have time to watch a whole long video right now, although I did watch the first part, in which Simon Baron-Cohen talks about genetics. In there, I don't recall him saying anything to contradict What Wendy Chung had to say in the video linked by Dvdz earlier in this thread. Regard...

The author skates over up-to-date scientific evidence of the understanding of autism, including professor Simon Baron-Cohen extreme male brain theory, which was misrepresented in the article. SBC`s theory basically states that traits associated with the male brain are amplified to the extreme in aut...

What is the purpose of making such a point, though? Who is creating or trying to create organizations or movements that treat all autistic people the same? Well Neurodiversity movement & ASAN for a start. They use "we" alot in respect to anti cure & potential biological treatments...

I don’t know much about The NY Times as its behind a paywall & im living in the UK. Did Steve Silbermans neurotribes Provide an unbiased book on Autism? Never read it but from others who have his only contribution to the subject of LF Autism was to joke that “we all end up in diapers eventually”.

Where does the internet get these hate names from Cassandra or Karen? why are they always middle class women`s names.

Why not a trailer park name or man`s name?

I think what whale_tuune means is that you can’t put all autistic people on the same page in terms of needs which makes a one size fits all approach impossible. What is the purpose of making such a point, though? Who is creating or trying to create organizations or movements that treat all autistic...

I would be very suspicious of Julian Assange diagnosis.

Nothing against the man but he had no issues before, suddenly when he’s facing 100 years in prison he claims he’s autistic and vulnerable.

I don’t think it would be all that difficult for him to fake symptoms to a psychiatrist.

it will be practically impossible to organize any medical, philanthropic, or social movement to address "Autistic people's" problems. That's obviously false since such organizations currently exist. You may not know what you are talking about when you use the term "autistic people.&q...

Unless your a danger to yourself or others they cannot force medication on you.

Having said that in the UK there have been cases of teenage autistic kids having meltdowns police are called, kids taken to mental health units and kept for years.

A kind of return to the old asylum system.

I am unsure how you can state a diagnosis is overused, unless you have some real data on that. Perhaps we are simply finding people with these conditions. I guess I find the idea that there are too many people with a diagnosis is very dismissive of those being diagnosed. Over used by parents and so...
