Okay I'm against the war in Libya to the extent of Obama violated the law, it is Congress that is supposed to declare wars not the Executive Branch. As for taking out Saddam, we should have done that in the 1st Gulf War and Saddam made the mistake of trying to give a very angry Texan the run-around... |

I have to say that I am against blauSamstag's point, and that Dawkins has alienated Pharyngulites, female atheists, and socially concerned atheists with his comment. He has damaged his credibility to a significant degree. I don't know if he'll be shunned simply due to his pre-existing social capita... |

The group makes me regret to have been Catholic, BECAUSE THE GROUP IS RIGHT . The Bible teaches geocentrism, the church fathers were adept geocentrists, the church killed Galileo. They are completely right that the current Catholic church is going against its original teachings, and by being right ... |

Terribly sorry to have disabled your fragile mental stability. Sometimes a strong cup of coffee or a shot of whiskey helps. |

In any case, 91 is quite right. That there are idiots and dupes and charlatans we all agree. It takes very little to see that they are pretty evenly distributed in time and space and that no organization of any size, no community larger than the nuclear family has lacked for lunacy. It is hard to c... |

There, I have finished quoting all the posts that have requested you to stay here instead of going to the funeral. It is all a sad thing, but you do not have an obligation to be in this forum, and thus bringing it to our attention seemed unnecessary. What? Ganz und gar Unsinn. I will be at the fune... |

I do not see blauSamstag as an idiot. Not that they do not prowl here. As for Dawkins, whether or not one agrees with his points, ouside his work [which I do not know and will not value] he is an idiot. The accusation of idiocy from idiots must be examined with, if nothing else, a sense of humor. |

For the other part, I would gladly summarize the interesting discussion this afternoon - Yrs Trly, Herself, and Malo visiting from Texas for the funeral. A good talk totally covering your point, but it would be wastedon you - PBS after all. Quoting personal tragedies as an excuse for not facing iss... |

Absolute generalizations are foolish and heartless. Actions must be closely analyzed under any circumstances. Let me expand the syntax of your declaration. (All) absolute generalizations are foolish and heartless. (All) actions must be closely analyzed under any circumstances. This is a generalizat... |

Our view of good and evil is based entirely on frame of reference and the context of the action. Look at the Christian history of witch burnings... Done in the name of God, then seen as justifiable, now viewed as a horrific blemish in humanity's history . Consider the wars waged in the name of God.... |

We know that certain groups of Homo Sapiens bred with Neandertals and Denisovans and their descendants carry those genes today. People from New Guinea carry the genes of all three sub-species. Seems like the bible omitted a few details regarding human origins. I think the Biblical account of human ... |

I do not think outside countries should intervene militarily in the case of domestic uprisings. For one thing, the leaders of the uprising may be no better than the current government, or they may have great ideas but lack the organization to lead the country if they succeed. Mostly, though, I thin... |

If a country is abusing its citizens, war is not the only option. The surrounding countries can open their borders to refugees, for example, and other countries can provide supplies to build and maintain refugee camps. Various sanctions can be imposed on the offending government, as well. But in th... |
