When I looked at the first picture, my first perception was that it looked like a bunch of stairs. It took me a moment to process what exactly was being asked. Finally, I decided the lines "looked" crooked, but somehow, deep inside, I knew they were really parallel....don´t know if that makes sense....

Sure, what I wrote is just an idealised version of reality, and it assumes one-on-one. I guess that with your students, you'll glance at each of them in turn while you're talking. Each listener will only get your gaze for a short time Hmmmm......I´m not really sure! I try to look at different peopl...

Wow, that´s so refreshing to see someone here who is appreciative! It seems like lately, I´ve seen quite a few Threads that are rather negative to other WP members- (most of which I avoid; I´ve decided I don´t have to read anything which will probably upset me anyway). In any case, I feel the same.....

I was just fine with eye contact until I realized that people don't like it when I look at them. Now I don't know what to do because if I don't look at them it feels strange, but if I do that feels strange too. I'm told that the choreography of conversational eye contact goes as follows: [ NB: You ...

That may be so, but just keep in mind that some "experts" may not be real experts, if you catch my drift.....

This thread is interesting.....mostly because when I was a kid, I absolutely abhorred the taste of water! My mother used to be very irritated by this; if I told her I was thirsty, she´d say "drink some water", and if I said "I don´t want water", then she´d say "then you´re not really thirsty"! There...

As Chronos wrote, lack of eye contact is one possible trait of AS, but not everyone has this particular trait and it is not necessary for making a diagnosis. This doctor should re-read the diagnostic criteria.

I sent an e-mail to Tony Attwood, and he replied. I never sent one to Simon Baron-Cohen, so I don´t know about that.

I did have trouble learning to read at first, and I was behind the other students. I also had trouble learning how to differentiate the letters when they were written; for instance, a "b" looked like a "p" or a "d" or a "q"- (all just circles with lines attached, as far as I was concerned). I rememb...

I was a dancer. I spent my whole weekend in the dance studio, dancing. Everything else was put "on hold"- including homework- until Monday, when the stress began again. :(

When I make connections with people, they seem to start out as mental connections...I want to talk to another person because we share a special interest, or I find that person mentally fascinating. Eventually, I may develop a particular feeling, fondness, familiarity, or love....but I can only *fee...

This is something I've noticed in my life and I was wondering if this is a common observation for aspies. There are people who are "empathic", and there's something about their voice, their facial expressions or their responses that indicate they "completely understand" you and there's a certain in...

Apparently, when I begin talking about something, I will monologue for some time. To make matters worse, if they change the subject, I will unadvertedly get back to the previous topic as soon as I get the chance, even if hours have passed. Yes, I definitely do this. I think there are just some thin...
