I think its a geographical thing. Where I live, in Canada (and I think its the same all over North America) Dr.Who is NEVER on TV and I have like a zillion channels. I get the weirdest things, but no Dr.Who, sadly. I've always heard about it but mostly from people in the UK. I have a thing nowadays ...

I would suggest reading. There are lots of books on the subject, but whats best I think are the autobiographies or personal accounts.

They think your vegetarian for moral reasons and immediatly think that you would judge them, so they go on the defensive. Saying it with a smile might help.
