Yes legally they're property crimes. But legally hardly any police shooting are murders, and most aren't crimes at all.

It seems odd to fall back on the legal classification to defend actions in a protest that is protesting the legal system's classification of certain actions.

These attempts are desperation on Trump's part and won't go anywhere because most Republicans are not insane enough to go along with this.

Yes. Obviously. What I'm saying is it shouldn't come as a surprise that someone in full time employment gets more wages than someone in part time employment or without a job. They get richer that way. It's like saying 'did you know that 99% of cats say meow and not many dogs do'. And yeah it's abou...

Essentially all that 'people in full time employment and married are more likely to be rich' tells you is 'people who are successful are more likely to be successful'. Really obviously. Next they'll say 'people who are married are more likely to have a partner'. Well it's focused on families. Witho...

Yet, conservatives present it as so. Why is that? Why can't they accept extenuating circumstances like disability or rape? It is conservatives who deal in absolutes not yours truly. I think you're misrepresenting conservatives here, but admittedly I can't speak for them. While I have some overlappi...

I ended up going to china to take a teaching job in IT which pays decently. It worked out for me in the end so far. Did it ever occur to you that this was a positive outcome of your positive decisions? If you wanted to stay in the U.S. you could have found a job in the U.S., instead you followed yo...

@cubedemon, your questions are almost all absolutes. Basically no one is arguing its possible in all cases for everyone. To avoid diluting the main point that personal responsibility matters I want to address one question I think gets to the crux of the matter. How easy is it for someone even if the...

In general any major change to well-established system should be viewed with great care. Plea bargains are pretty much essential to how our justice system works, save a lot of time and effort, and likely result in more criminals having to account for their crimes. I know the arguments of sometimes i...

Few takeaways here. 1) Your brain is pretty good. I don't know exactly what 134 verbal plus 107 reasoning is in GAI but its probably at least 120 which is more than a standard deviation above average. GAI is what people typically think of as "smarts," and is accepted by Mensa in place of I...

They do say capitalism fails on the 1% so that means I am the 1%. They say capitalism is a rising tide that lifts all boats. I would distinguish here. An efficient and productive society is the rising tide that lifts all boats. Competition is an efficient optimizer, and capitalism rewards triumph i...

I firmly believe that there is only one science (physics), and that everything (even stamp collecting) is physics. As such, I see the separation of academic subjects into categories (physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences, humanities etc.) as products of the fallible human mind, and not ...

Capitalism assumes everyone has the same abilities in life to make a go of it. Couldn't be further from the truth. Capitalism assumes people have unequal abilities, and that people with greater abilities will prosper more. Ability is a product of talent and hard work. No one reasonable thinks anyon...

Some of it is being "a product of your area". So if your parents have a certain political affiliation, and so do most of your friends, you probably will as well. Look at Indiana compared to Michigan or Ohio - it's much more conservative but that can't be explained by demographic reasons, ...
