Since getting my HFA diagnosis last year, I have been immersing myself in the autism communities I find online. It has been an enjoyable experience so far. It has been something of a homecoming for me, a chance to learn from others, as well as an opportunity to share my own experiences. There is so ...

I'm always trying to cultivate a Mad Max style of barbaric post apocalypse mullets. This requires a mix of short and long hair. To cut long hair so it's straight- Hair ties and clips keep the hair you don't want cut out of the way. Pinch and spread out thin a lock of hair between your pointy and mid...

My first poly relationship happened quite organically and accidentally. Nothing was negotiated and it fell apart. I had some open relationships between my first and second full blown poly relationship. My second one happened after a determined effort on my partners part, after much discussion and ne...

I tell people I am autistic. I was diagnosed with HFA. I prefer the term 'autistic' to 'Aspergers' on the basis of my dx, and because of political reasons- shattering stereotypes about autism. I say 'I have autism' as interchangeably as 'I am autistic'. I never say I'm an 'aspie' because everyone I'...

I won't allow anyone to cut my hair, unless they have an appropriately post-apocalypse hair style themselves. I can't respect anything less.

Mainly, I do my own haircuts. I've been experimenting with this for over two decades. My haircuts are usually exactly what I want.

It seems to me that you are grieving over your traumatic earlier years. That is completely understandable. I don't want to tell you to get over it or suck it up. But certainly, acknowledge the pain, and enjoy the good things yet to come...

Hi Norny, I can relate to the idea of feeling like a fraud here. It's probably a hangover of feeling like a fraud in many other social contexts. I read a lot of other people's stories here and think to myself, "Oh gosh, I don't struggle with that problem so much, how unfortunate for that person. May...

(We Will Not) Remember You - by Anti-Nowhere League (the legendary UK punk/biker band that wrote Metallica's 'So What'). A rant about a family values kind of guy living a closeted double life, and how the band feels about it all. I think most of their songs are comically uncouth and politically susp...

Hey goldfish21,
I really enjoyed your tale, thanks for sharing! It seemed as if everyone involved handled an ugly situation really well.

I've mostly found that by being upfront about my sexual nature (when the topic comes up), the jerks stay away and the interesting people stick around.

I personally will never get sick of sci-fi cinema, particularly when set within the Crap-Sack World trope. Anything exploring the human condition through a veneer of androids, mutants and aliens will always capture my heart. Monster movies and post-apocalypse films usually do it for me too. However,...

In my humble opinion, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series was pretty overrated. People with echolalia still quote it at me. Disaster Area and Agrajar were ok though. I liked those bits.

One of the reasons I share my story is I am wondering...
Are there any other autists / aspies kicking goals in the field of "acting"?
How is it going for you?
