I'm not sure I have the medical definition of hyperlexia, because I picked up speech very easily and quickly. I learned to read on my own at 18 months old.

Does savantism occur on a spectrum the same way an ASD does? I know not everyone with a savant ability is autistic and not all autistics are savants. I don't believe I'm a true savant in the strictest sense of the word, but I wonder if some abilities I have occur in a "grey area" or spectrum. You ha...

Languages, dialects and accents have always been a special interest of mine. The Cockney accent is one of my favorites, with its distinctive sound and rhyming slang. I've heard this accent will be extinct in a few decades. :( My parents know someone who was raised by a mother and father with a Cockn...

I'm accused of speaking in a monotone ALL the time. To me, I sound fine and just have a masculine way of speaking.

I cheated. I did this exercise with the Alphabet song and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Then I tried it with Ring-a-Ring-o-Roses and Jack Sprat and saw what you meant. I have a gifted/LD combination. I was mainstreamed in school and in the one area I was having trouble with, I was constantly ...

I have NT friends. They had to learn to socialize and made many mistakes. It wasn't just some magical ability they were born with.

As for talk of "NT's are inferior". Not my friends. They're wonderful, productive and caring people.

What does this have to do with anything? I'm just sick of life. Can't remember a time I ever did enjoy it. I literally was praying to God that I wouldn't wake up when I was 14. I just don't understand why a human being (if you want to call me that) would be created with so much problems...Aspergers...

I have a very abnormal sense of time. Time does not pass for me as it seems to with others, yet time seems to be speeding along at a very scary pace. I don't get it.

Doesn't anyone have anything better to do with their time than stare at photos and try to determine if they have autism? Unless, of course, it is a special interest.

Here I go breaching the social mores of WP!

It's socially acceptable to call social outcasts weird, and any other thing you could think of. It's being outside of social consideration after all.

I have stated I have Aspergers on my resume/CV and I go into a long discusion trying to explain how Aspergers has adversely impacted my life and no one seems to give me a fair go. This is why. Take it off your resume. Without anything else to judge you on, no one is going to bother interviewing you...

People with blindness and visual impairments can have the same empty look to their eyes. So can veterans of war suffering from PSTD. Or anyone in a crisis/abusive situation after long enough.

I recall a certain Central European country that did extensive profiling of facial features. That same country's government at the time killed over six million people for not being like them.

If autistic facial features were ever found, time to schedule some plastic surgery.
