Artificial wombs are a huge technological leap that we're currently nowhere near to. Genetic editing to select for "super soldiers" is also something we're currently nowhere near to. We have no idea at all what makes for a "super soldier", and they'd still be within the bounds of...

I guess I'm just not sure that people who (understandably) have avoided thinking about the issue will now pay attention to a long-form interview. Maybe I'm underestimating Carlson's appeal.

Not really interested in watching the whole thing. Have seen a few clips. Seems like Carlson didn't really know what he was getting into - just encountered an Eastern European grandfather who liked telling long rambling stories, when he was expecting a Western politician who wanted to speak very ca...

I don't know enough about the investigator to say, but those sorts of comments about a sitting politician seem inappropriate for a government report in any case.

Yeah this thread is transphobia dressed up as superficially pro-trans. Transphobia is against WrongPlanet rules. Ergo, locked.

Here's the dirt on the peerages that are: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hereditary_peer It's all rather complicated. It sure is. The article mentions Irish nobility--I would have thought that the Irish had banned titles of nobility. The Irish nobility are not actually Irish in the modern ...

The "nobility" are basically irrelevant, outside of the royal family and the Duke of Westminster. Class operates slightly differently to the US, but I think the gap between the working and middle class (which, to be clear, is not a sharp dividing line) is broadly common to any society with...

Yep. Officially, anyone who arrives outside of schemes like the ones for Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong, will have their claim automatically shoved off onto Rwanda rather than properly considered in the UK.

"exempts name changes due to marriage" That's how you know the law is specifically meant as a f***-you to trans people. Cisgender straight lawmakers ALWAYS make sure there's an exception for themselves, always. It's a law from the 1920s, but yes - there's no good reason why changing your ...

This Thread  , started by  This Member  , has devolved beyond redemption, in my opinion.  I have seen posts in that thread containing lies and threats of violence by the OP, some of which I have reported. Thanks - I've posted a warning. Unless the OP starts engaging properly with the things people...

It's not clear to me how much merit there is in the thread's continuation. Both the supporter and the detractors of "MAROF" have made their points clear, and it seems an impasse has been reached. There have been unpleasant insinuations about users, and some strange hyperbole in li...

I am not singling anyone out here. This is simply a general reminder to please be very careful when discussing terrorist groups to avoid glorifying violence or posting terrorist apologia. All I'll say for myself is that I agree with the respondents of the poll Boo posted - Hezbollah are unlikely to...

I feel like it might have something to do with the fact that the UK and Ireland are probably the only countries in Europe where far-right politics haven't become the norm. Young people in the UK and Ireland tend to be left-wing, while young people in continental Europe tend to be far-right (and oft...

the Bolivian MAS party is very open about liking socialism (Movimiento Al Socialismo literally means Movement Towards Socialism) and is winning democratic majority votes, for example. Is Bolivia really an example you think should be imitated? True, the geography is challenging, but it's one of the ...

In the socialism example, it can be explained by the imperialist hegemony being incredible hostile to any country lefter than your left hand. Wouldn't you try to quash counterrevolutionaries if most of the world, including the most powerful country in it, actively wanted your country gone and repla...
