Thank you for the hints, guys. He doesn't mind flushing at home--in fact, we have the opposite problem. He likes flushing our toilet over and over again. He's broken the handle. we have to turn the water off to the toilet and the sink sometimes to keep him out of it. He's fascinated by water and afr...

Fleet Foxes. Even though I'm old enough to be their mom. To the point where my son's first words were "Feet Focket". Actually, he jsut said "Focket" at first and I thought, "Great, his first word would be a cussword." But then he said "Feet Focket" while they were on the radio and I realized what he...

This problem has probably been addressed before, but I'm sneaking and doing this at work, so I'm in a hurry. He's 3 years old, and although he's never liked it before, suddenly he started bolting out of the bathtub whenever it looks like I'm about to reach for the shower hose. Now he refuses to even...

He very seriously asks me, "Mama, what color jeans were you wearing at the hospital the day you had me to give me brown hair?" I told him (while trying not to crack up!) that these genes were not like pants but little parts of our bodies on the inside... i could see the wheels turning trying to fig...

My son Cameron and I are big Fleet Foxes fans. His first word was "Focket". I thought, "Who let that one slip?" Then one day he said, "Feet Focket," and I realized he was saying "Fleet Foxes." Cameron, who is 3, has serious echolalia coupled with a good bit of musical ability. When he was les...

I can't stand loud TV and yelling shuts me down. Be-bop jazz like Charlie Parker (which unfortunately my husband loves) feels like the notes are a flock of birds pecking me to death.

BTW, labradorite is one of my favorite gemstones to make jewelry with. :D

When I met my husband, I had never heard of Aspergers but knew I was weird in some way. He told me it was just an excuse for whatever I didn't feel like doing. He saw me stab myself in the head with a pen when my mother was dying, he saw the bruise I inflicted on myself hitting my head on a metal st...

I took ballet for one school year when I was 7 but I didn't want to do it again because I was big for my age and I was much larger than all the other girls in the class and I couldn't stand wearing tights because they crept around on my body and when I wore them to school the crotch crept down aroun...

I'm not much of a forum user, so I never can remember whether to click "new topic" or "post reply". Please be patient with me while I get reacquainted with it. I'm 45, female, and I found out about Asperger's while I was bored at work about 7 years ago and was reading the dictionary. Then I read an ...
