Well I've finally gone and gotten tested. It's taken over a month and included a personal history interview, an autism questionnaire interview and then an IQ/cognition test. I could tell that my specialist was leaning towards some sort of anxiety disorder or an anxiety disorder plus autism. So her o...

maybe it's just paranoia, but I sometimes get locked into a loop where I think maybe I heard a cue or subtext or something, but I'm not sure, and I try to understand and think about it, and then I space out a little, but they keep talking, so I have to let it go and hope it will be fine (and it usu...

For me there is basically a constant fear loop when interacting with others. I'm assuming the worst but hoping for the best.

Oh yes, I get that too. I start telling a story or answering a question and I get lost on a tangent, and then that tangent leads to another tangent and so on. I've caught myself doing this a couple of times even recently while trying to answer the specialist's questions during my autism assessment :...

I understand your frustration. I'm 35 and I'm only getting tested for autism now because I went and got the process started. My whole my Mum would jokingly tell me how I could walk and talk after 12 months but that I stopped and only did it when I chose to until 18 months. And she laughed at how my ...

That would p**s me off too! As others have suggested, try writing your comments in a wordpad/notepad app then copy and paste it into wrongplanet in case it doesn't submit. Then you can just keep trying.

Now I also have a similar fear about a similar thing happening online. After my initial new member popularity I fear incase I overwelcome my stay as sometimes I repeat myself from many slightly different angles and variations of the same subject so I get a full definate multiangled conclusion from ...

I'm currently getting tested for an ASD but I think the specialist is leaning more towards me just having had a lifelong anxiety disorder. If it wasn't for her saying at our last appointment that she has all the information she needs I'd send her the link to that article. I read it last night before...

I think when I was younger if I thought something was stupid I would at least openly question it, if not outright criticise it. But I guess over time you learn that everybody seems to be headed in the same direction and if you don't want to look weird or stand out you go with the current, not agains...

But making sense of feelings can get a little... Can't think of a word... I'm not sure of the word you're thinking of but for me it feels confronting and exhausting to actually process emotions (I only recently even found out what that meant). But I'm like you, I dwell on past events for a long tim...

Just a quick update, my third appointment with the specialist was postponed by a week so I only ended up going this last Saturday for the IQ/cognition test. Now it will be a 2 week wait until I go back for her findings. I guess if I stay busy with work that will help pass the time a bit quicker. Now...

You may not be religious but you've definitely allowed some rigid patterns of belief take hold. The idea that your brain stopped developing at 25 and now you're doomed to stay the same? Well guess what, that's actually what happens. Most people think of adulthood beginning at whatever age they can d...

Hey everyone, Thanks for your kind words and input. What I'm really taking away from this is; 1. Antisocial personalities wouldn't give 2 s***s about being antisocial. 2. I'm definitely not the only one to have felt that way about myself (in fact, the first person I ever heard admit that was John El...

Hey everybody, I joined in 2011 after a friend joked I might be one of those "stupid geniuses" and suggested I get tested for an ASD. I didn't see how a diagnosis would really help. Once I found WP from google searches it seemed enough for a long time to just have a place to talk when I ne...

One of the biggest things I struggle with in dealing with other people is covert aggression (what some people mistakenly call passive aggression). I hate that it's normal for people to be indirect and cowardly when they want to say something. I feel the world would be a better place if everyone was ...
