The 1997 film was on tv this afternoon and that prompted me to Google Mr Bean and autism, which led me to this old thread from long before my own time on WP! I still prefer the tv series, though!

There is no requirement to "go private" to get a diagnosis. Both I and my partner got diagnosed on the NHS. Your GP must forward you to a psychiatrist who can then forward you to a clinical psychologist or a neurologist.. and they DO have those on the NHS. Some GPs are just obstructive bastards who...
