Definitely texture like others have said. His resistance to packaging or lack thereof may simply be that he is too young to realize that food tastes/feels the same out of the package and is afraid of having an unpleasant experience. It could be though that the package allows him to have more precise... |

I took the FQ awhile ago, I don't remember my exact score but it was above average NT scores. There's no way that's accurate, my mom says that if friends are like plants I need friends who are cactuses |

I would come with a list of symptoms you deal with/be prepared to talk about them. Also prepare for your doctor to be at least a tad ignorant, as in don't be surprised if you hear "you don't look autistic", or "but you make eye contact" or "do you really want that stigma? Yo... |

You guys got me thinking. As much as I truly hate the term "suffer from autism" when applied to those on high and mid parts of the spectrum, what about the lowest end. Those who have no communication skills, are in near constant meltdown/overload, regularly self harm etc. Do they suffer? ... |

If the school/daycare thinks it's better to keep him in the under 2 room for a little bit that may be beneficial if that means he will get more one on one attention. Don't let them keep him in there indefinitely though. He needs to be challenged and engaged. He's autistic so he's on his own timeline... |

No I don't think so. They are looking for employees with a specific skill set NT's can develop and demonstrate those skills as well. Those employers just happen to know that the skill set is often found among those on the spectrum. It's not like you you can be unqualified and get the job just becaus... |

They'll just believe me/accommodate me for whatever I ask because CP can affect all sorts of things. Maybe they will and maybe they won't. Most people think of CP as a purely physical problem (especially if they see you having physical difficulties or using wheelchair/crutches/etc.), so if you ask ... |

Starkid or anyone would you mind providing some specific examples of that? I tried but my mom's only response was "It's a brain injury they're* (future employer) not gonna know/research all it causes" i.e. They'll just believe me/accommodate me for whatever I ask because CP can affect all ... |

Thank you both! I would like to add that my mother is adamant that due to my CP (Cerebral Palsy) (Brain injury in womb due to oxygen deprivation) qualifying me as disabled under the ADA and for many of the same accommodations that an ASD diagnosis is not needed because I could use my CP as the basis... |
