Yes, I know, one of those "do Aspies do X?" threads... I realised the other day that I view people more or less as events. For example, I view some of my friends as "the people I talk to during registration", "the person I walk to Biology with", or "the person I sit with during Chemistry". If a per... |

No. There's more to AS than social deficits, anyway. |

I have a very weird memory. I can remember things that happened years ago very precisely, and I can also remember a lot of things about my interests. But, I have a very bad memory for other things: for example, I have a lot of troubles remembering people's faces, and I also have troubles rememberin... |

Desperately needing some advice! My 13 year old Asperger's son, was put on medication a couple of months ago for suicidal thoughts. He started with Prozac but suffered constant nausea and headaches, so after 2 weeks they changed it to sertraline which he's now been taking for 9 weeks. He also takes... |

i think the individual featured in the arcticle has classic autism not AS Can we use terms like Kanner's autism, non-verbal, or deep-end spectrum, or something like that instead of "classic autism," because, personally, I happen to consider myself a classic! :P kanner's autism and nonverbal aren't ... |

Welcome to Wrong Planet, Kyle. :) Clearly you have traits, but perhaps the psychologist didn't think you have it because you've adapted as an adult e.g. making eye contact. Being a psychologist doesn't mean you're an expert on ASDs, so perhaps you could get referred to someone with greater knowledge... |

Autism is a collection of personality traits which become conspicuous when they occur in ret*d people. I have a ret*d son who is autistic. I share many of his personality traits, and I don’t regret any of them. Man’s mental and emotional makeup is undergoing rapid evolution. How could they not? Our... |

Maybe I should re phrase? I know of someone who may be anorexic but hasn't had a period in at least 3 months. Is that a concern? Not getting your period is a symptom of anorexia. In fact, part of the current DSM criteria is 3 consecutive missed periods, although that's going to be removed in the ne... |

Firstly, I want to say that you're brave for sharing all this. I'm really sorry about what you've been through. 'I feel guilty for reaching out to anyone. I feel I don't deserve it because people probably go through so much more than I did.' You need to practice compassion towards yourself. Not that... |

And if applicable could you offer some similar conditions that involve inflexibility in routines, breakdowns, subject obsessions, and high sensitivity to sounds, textures and the like [withou... |

First you wrote "I seem not to be able to learn no matter what I read or watch on TV" then turn around and write "my best subjects are science and music." Please clarify. I assumed that they meant learn body language, not learn in general. To the OP: Sounds about right but I think there are usually... |

I'm ASD, my fiancee is not. I'm pretty concerned about how likely it is we'll have children on the spectrum. I'm not the only person in my family with ASD, either; my cousin Ben has it, and I'm pretty sure a couple of my uncles do, too. So, anybody know anything, or have their own kids and can offe... |

Hey guys, I'm wondering if other people experience such a huge disconnect as I do between their ability to communicate online (via text) and their ability to communicate face to face. I watched a great video ( link ) about a low-functioning autistic girl who was non-verbal and apparently unresponsi... |
