It is usually when I'm too impatient to let my food go cold before I eat it. My friends make fun of me though because I drink my tea lukewarm :)

I get words stuck in my head from time to time. Usually it is because they sound nice...it's far more common that I get stuck on a song though (whoever mentioned the white stripes, I have that song stuck in my head right now and it will keep me awake tonight unless I go and put my walkman on :) ) I ...

I think you've managed to sum up AS really well without dwelling too much on the bad stuff...it's really well-written and should give non-autistic people some sort of insight into the problems we face. Well done! :)

I have seen many references to this thing called 'visual thinking' but am not sure I fully understand it. I have known for some time now that I struggle when given verbal instructions. I have to have something explained several times and usually ask people to write things down. I tend to only learn ...

Hi there Candace. AS affects everyone differently. Maybe you could sit down and list the ways in which it affects your son and this would help you explain it to others. Do as much research as you can as it's a relatively 'new' condition. As for feeling guilty, I believe AS is hereditary (There appea...

Actually this is really tough but I will try; Good at music Wicked sense of humour (or so I'm told) Witty Intelligent Determined "Good listener" (in quote marks because people think this of me, I'm not sure if it's true or that I just appear to be) Attentive to detail (Anally so) Sorry I couldn't be...

I hate the way people have to categorise everything and put you and your music into little boxes! :x I don't get it. People who like jazz for example are supposed to be more open-minded to weird stuff, but one of my aquaintances who is in a jazz band was taking the p*ss out of my friend who has gone...

I never fitted in at school but didn't really question it that deeply at the time...there are the popular people and those who get picked on. I was in the latter category. Simple as. Then I got interested in psychology and read a couple of self-help books as a teenager. I had always been labelled as...

It tends to go one of two ways for me;I can either block out all outside distractions, or be intensely irritated by absolutely everything and everyone around me. (This was a real problem when I was younger, I couldn't read or do homework if my sister was making noise near me and it caused many famil...

Hi, was wondering if anyone else can indentify with this. I get really annoyed when I am talking and my trail of thought gets interrupted and I know that I was about to say something really important...I can't let the conversation move on until I have remembered what it was...it is the same with tho...

I have loved music for as long as I can remember. I would wear my walkman all day if society allowed it. When I was little I memorised the words to every pop song I took a liking to. I went through a phase of worshipping Kylie Minogue, Michael Jackson, then moved on to boybands. When I was fourteen ...

I HATE being expected to make conversation first thing in the morning...I have to have a shower first thing to wake up and usually am not in any fit state to talk before breakfast! My sister thinks it's because I'm a moody cow but I know better :)

I am undiagnosed but strongly suspect I have AS. I think my dad also has AS, he has 'strange' behaviours. My mum could be AS or HFA, I'm not sure. I think they are both on the spectrum because, although they both found aspects of my behaviour weird as I grew up, neither of them have found me strange...
