Perfection for me would've been learning by staying at home and reading, with a teacher available for questions by phone. I never learned anything from a lecture or from the babblings of other students; just let me absorb the facts at whatever speed is working for me that day and don't waste my time... |

when I look back on my life I have just have memory after memory of sitting home alone by myself in my room That was me before I met my husband at age 30; I spent my childhood and young adulthood reading on my bed. I managed a little bit of friendship, some concerts, sometimes a boyfriend, but neve... |

I was explaining to my uncle today about being an Aspie, and pointing out how many of my "odd" traits are in fact totally normal for Aspies. I was illustrating how these contributed to my extreme difficulties in getting a job (even during a booming economy), and he blurted out that HE had NEVER been... |

I like your idea of the chores on the day he misbehaves. Maybe a choice of one of three. We are all moving in full time in three weeks, and when we do, I'll give it a shot. Thanks! You're welcome!! As has already been said in this thread, I think you're honestly trying to find solutions, which is d... |

We just can't get it through his head that these punishments are the results of his behavior. If he honestly doesn't understand, then you're not accomplishing anything by punishing him, and you're making him and everyone around him miserable for nothing. Worse, you're making him feel resentful and ... |

I had a college boyfriend who tried the same thing with me; he was certain that in order to learn to meditate I HAD to be able to visualize logs floating down a river, and of course I couldn't do it. |

How is going at everything so fast anxiety? I can get geared up anxiety-wise about something that needs to be done and start going 100 miles an hour handling it, and often keep going for other tasks as well until I wind down. It's like being in an altered mental state; I don't really feel like I'm ... |

That sounds like synesthesia... do you think that's what you're experiencing? Yep, that's me. Although I don't have very good memory for details. :? Not to be nosy, but... is it that way for you even with "adult thoughts," where you don't have any visuals? i am completely the opposite of you this wa... |

I don't know your family, but families in general would rather believe you're "overly sensitive" or making things up to get attention or whatever than that there's something physically different about your brain. That sucks, and I'm sorry you're stuck dealing with that. :( I second the idea of locki... |

I wish I could move to whatever place suffers the least sunshine and become a hermit! :wall: Monterey, CA might suit you; if you're anywhere near the coast it's foggy or overcast most of the time. I like it to be about 73 degrees and sunny but not glaringly bright sun; some clouds are fine with me ... |

Me too!! Part of it is that I get very cold when I go to bed except in summer, but I like feeling heavier layers over me just because of the weight.
I love to touch an animal's fur; I'll pet any animal that lets me until it's BALD. |

I bounce when I'm excited. Also, when I sit on the floor and rock, most times I do it next to the bed so I bounce off the side of the mattress every time I rock left. |
