Sometimes, a lie is not so much a lie as a childs idea of what the world ought to be. I don't mean, "Did you steal that?" "no" But imaginary friends, imaginary situations, things like that. Might be a lie, might be a sense of the dramatic. Also, when you ask, "Who hit who first." you might be surpri...

Congratulations, Alex, and everyone else who has helped build this board, and participates in it. When I joined 3 years ago, we were about 2,000 souls.

This is just amazing.

Again, congrats to all of us, and especially the mods, and Alex.

Find out if there are any studies or warnings about suicide in young children and teens. I, myself, am pro meds, but as someone who suffers from chronic unreasonable depression, I ease into a med VERY carefully. As someone else said, watch the kid closely.....and take the dose up VERY slowly. Also, ...

I think I'm probably unsympathetic to the whole "other woman" thing. I've been married now for 20 years, and we have our ups and downs, and outright fights, but it always comes down to both of us cooling off. I wish I knew what to say to you. Our kid knows he's stuck with us (he'll be 19 next week.....

Sometimes I look into meds for my son. There's a lot of pressure to medicate...other parents, teachers, and the pediatrician (who also medicates his own daughter). I've researched every possible drug and I have to reject them all when I see the possible side effects. Well, you don't have to bend to...

You're instincts are good. If it's not court mandated, I wouldn't let the new GF near your kids until they are older. Dad is something different, but visitation rights don't mean they have to go to his house. I wish I could be more up-beat, but....well....they're your kids. Hope that helps. btdt

We had a bunch of bad experience with our kid, who now won't even take antibiotics when he needs them. I am an advocate of medication, but not the shotgun approach. I'm very distressed that some of these meds are not given proper trials, and that some of the warnings (like, "known to cause suicide i...

Uh....I think, if your 18, it's called assault. If your under 18, it's called child abuse.
Just a thought.

Today I was at a social group for those with AS and because I was new there, I was getting asked quite a few questions about myself. Basically, NOS is used in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) for psychiatrists to fill out insurance forms. The DSM is not a guide to conditions...or at least, it's not meant to be. It is organized by number. If a psychiatrist feels, for example, that someone has Prevasive Development Disor...

Nothing wrong with not wanting sex at your age. Last thing in the world you should do is make out with someone 'cause it's expected. You have to want to. Whatever you decide to do in the long run, don't worry about it now. By the way, sex with the right person under the right conditions can be a lot...
