I quess you could take up Martial Arts, Fencing or other types of weapons training or physical fitness programs. However, what you feel inside is far more important than your physical being. You don't need to be in a militia or the military to be a warrior. I understand your feelings about the milit...

This kind of thing is a personal choice with no real right or wrong option. I'm very open about being an Aspie, but when I was first diagnosed I didn't tell alot of people. The schools knew as did my family and some peers but it did take abit for me to fully accept it and let others know. I have a f...

If your research is pointing you to think its Asperger's Syndrome you should seek out a professional (neurologist, clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, etc.) with experience diagnosing ASDs (Autism Spectrum Disorders) for a complete evaluation. In adition to talking with you and useing various tests...

Technically ASDs can co-exist with any other disorder/medical condition (it's called co-morbidity) some secondary conditions are pretty common and others pretty rare, the disorder can also accure alone.

Asperger's Syndrome, like other Autism Spectrom disorders, is marked by a triad of imparments in Social, Communication and Behavioral areas. You have to have a certain amount of symptoms from each group not just one symptom form one section.

Sorry to hear your son's in the hospital, hopefully he getts the treatment he needs to recover. Comorbid conditions can complicate things alot especially the more severe ones. I'm lucky to have a comorbidity with OCD which is easier to control. Depending on the type of schizophrenia, they have some ...

Hi, welcome to wrong planet. I'm a 23 year old aspie whose mom works in an autism support classroom with the IU. I think you'll find that we are as varied in experience and personality as Neuro-typicals are. We just relate closer to eachother than to NTs, at least I think so. This is a good place to...

My parents accepted the diagnosis fine, but I've heard of others not doing so well with it. Sometimes this has to do with education (they don't really understand it or are blinded by the stigma sometimes associated with it), or somethimes a parent's desire for a normal child because they see normalc...

That would be only the case for NTs but we are not NTs. Aspies don't fanny around with words. I am an aspie and I enjoy playing around with numbers and letters and words but I do agree with nannarob that having it all under autism would help because of all the confusion. Having all autism under the...

I remember when the DC sniper was at it. And the police profile was that he was an angry white guy in his 30's. Turned out to be a black teenager and another black guy in his 40's. I guess racial profiling is okay as long as you do it to white people. I'm not sure if this is related to anything I w...

Most of the serial killers are either dead or never were captured, so it's pretty difficult to accurately diagnose them, don't you think? Specially because so many of them left deliberately puzzling clues to conceal themselves. Even if they prove that a few were autistic, the vast majority is shrou...

To put it in a nutshell, are you saying that finding an autistic serial killer is close to impossible.

I'm saying its unlikely and if one is/were autistic it would have APD as a comorbid condition, which would be an interesting combination.

No, the name Asperger's Syndrome should not be changed to High Functioning Autism because these are infact two seperate conditions with opposites sides of the braian being largely affected. In Autism (high functioning included) the person tends to have a strong right hemisphere and a weak left hemi...
