We have a full kitchen at the office and I cook many things there. One day years ago I was making some Indian food with lots and lots of great smells. I was told to stop. I replied with "What are you worried about? Everyone will just think it is the restaurant next door." That didn't help ...

A niece of mine lives in the path of totality. They were pretty much right in the middle, but the predictions have shifted a bit. The local school there is not having classes that day because they think it would be dark before some of the kids in the county could get home from school that day. They ...

Our county is about to be invaded. Thousands of people are coming and will almost double the size of our county. They want to see a Solar Eclipse and it will pass right over us. All the Porta Potties have been taken. My wife is trying to buy some solar eclipse safety glasses. I don't understand doi...

Seriously, you guys should try eating fruit when taking a hot shower. There’s something odd pleasant about pretending to be in a tropical rainforest. I once got chewed out for eating a meal while taking a hot shower. I had been to a football game on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon and was shiveri...

One nice thing it can do is schedule messages.

A few days before Thanksgiving and a few days before Christmas, I found a number of funny cartoons and pictures with captions appropriate for the holiday.

I then set Telegram to deliver them one every hour starting at 8 am and continuing until 10 pm.

The MAGAs voted Trump in in 2016, at least in part because his opponent was a woman. Trump and his cult are not Conservative at all. They are right wing radicals which is very different from Conservative. Conservatism is about respecting and supporting the great institutions of life. Radicals of ev...

I had two "bests" today. The best "brown and serve rolls" that I have ever cooked. How touch can they be -- take them out of the package, put them on a pan, bake at 450 F (I prefer 455 F) for 5 minutes, remove, and eat. Simple, right? Actually, fairly boring. So what I did was ch...

One style of dream that I have from time to time is a problem solving dream. I had one last night. First, a little background. I have a number of servers that I need to monitor whether or not I'm at the office. The servers handle various networking traffic such as DHCP (dynamic IP address assignment...

I watched a movie last night that I first saw the weekend between the assassination of President Kennedy and his funeral. I think it was on Saturday night.

The movie was Sahara starring Humphrey Bogart. It was pretty much about the only non-news broadcast that entire weekend.

Not scared. Whenever I see a snake on the road, if it has not been run over I chase him off the road. That includes rattlesnakes. Rattlesnakes are usually relative docile and move off it readily. I once fought a bullsnake for about 45 minutes to get it off the road. I certainly don't handle them, th...

I am tempted to download the app "Telegram" for a particular reason. Anyone know anything about it? I use it daily to talk to my sister. It works quite well for us. From time to time, some random twit will show up to chat (probably scammers of one kind or another) but I just delete those ...

I started using different e-mail addresses for different financial institutions. That is, one e-mail address for one bank or credit card company that is never used anywhere else. For example, imagine e-mail addresses such as any of the following chocolate_stuffed_walruses_yum_yum@example.com e_to_th...

From time to time I will have a dream that I want to quit smoking but can't.

I had one last night.

The strange thing is that I quit smoking nearly forty years ago.

Without the nuclear bomb, how long would the fighting have continued?

I seem to remember reading that they expected a million deaths in a ground war on Japanese soil. I'm not positive that is correct, though.

I was told by someone with many NASA ties about thirty years ago that Armstrong's saying was scripted but he flubbed it and that the tapes were edited to make it come out the way it was scripted. He made it sound like they replaced the entire line, but it makes more sense if they just inserted an 'a...
