But I think my problem is that because my autism is somewhat well-managed, i don't have all the severe meltdowns/outbursts/overloads everywhere I go. So it's hard for me to really grasp what an autistic person is actually like. I want people to get the IDEA she has autism without just flat out sayin...

I'm trying to write a story that revolves around autism and a young sixteen year old girl finding love despite her condition. But I'm having a hard time with it. It won't be AS but an mild to moderate autistic disorder like what I have though, since I'm high-functioning, it will seem like she's an a...

Posting about autism may cause a Temporal Rebound Effect and may be linked retroactively to autism in yourself or your children. You just caused your own autism. OH NOES! now I just did! /cry lol i know right. XD I was talking to my friend who has AS and she said, "what are these people afraid of t...

Lol sorry for the weird title... it was to make a point. I figured it belonged here since it deals with the media and it's more internet related. XD Anyway, don't you hate when you try to look something up and you get not only stuff about autistic CHILDREN but also that mumbo jumbo about things that...

How could I be writing an autobiography when I don't even have psychosis myself? D: I'm writing a fictional story.

I self diagnosed on both asperger's and ADD. It took me a couple of years to get to that conclusion, its so easy to just blame every thing on one or the other. It was a good thing i actually liked psychology stuff. I even trace them to different branches of the family. I kind of localise them in th...

Well, if you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. Your story/character sounds very interesting. I just wish more people would do the research you and I do when it comes to making a character with a mental illness. I actually think Psychotic depression fits her a lot more than the ot...

I just want to be able to get things right. It's one of those things where she's misunderstood so the suicide and cutting is because of that. Plus the bullying at school. It sounds a lot like psychotic depression/self-injury. A big misconception is that schizophrenia is the only type of psychosis. ...

It is most certainly possible. Just keep in mind that the autism symptoms would have been present from birth, but the psychosis wouldn't likely have shown itself until late adolescence/early adulthood. And is the suicide attempts related to depression/mood? If so, you may want to consider making th...

I am writing another story and I want to include autism as my character's diagnosis but... she also has psychosis because she loses touch with reality after falling into a 'wonderland state' where she believes that the wonderland characters are real but aren't. She also sees and hears ghosts as well...

Honestly I think anyone who is offended by the R word are hypocrites because they use words like stupid and idiot and moron or imbecile and they don't find them offensive either. But yet they all mean people who lack intelligence, low IQs. Also the fact dumb means unable to speak and they are also ...

I always hate putting things away. Once I'm in my bedroom, my mind is in routine. It makes it harder for me to do anything that isn't part of that. But my parents always call me lazy because I don't learn to put things away like groceries or because I don't help them. It's not that i don't want to o...
